Bliss of Darkness

[A/N: This is a collection of short poems that I've started to work on. It's one of my first attempts at poetry, so enjoy!]

Wings of a Butterfly

Struggling against the wind,
The butterfly flaps, flaps, flaps its wings.
Ripping,
Scarring,
Destroying
It tumbles through the air,
And falls through the darkness below

Ravens

Ravens claw through the darkness to reach the light.
They hide in my ribcage, waiting for the ghosts to cry.
They whisper,
Sweet ethereal bliss.
When my skin illuminates with red,
They scream,
They’re set free.

Porcelain Frame

Smiling back at her,
With bottomless blue eyes,
Her reflection
Lies beautifully.
Be careful,
Because if it keeps lying,
Her pretty porcelain frame
Will crack.

I agree, this is great for your first time at poetry. The only poetry I can write are the ones that rhyme and even then the sound like crap. However, this is great for your first time. I like the thrid and first one, but the one with the ravens didn't make much sense. i had to read it a few times to actually understnad what you were saying, and I didn't even get it completely. However, great job on the other two!

Hey!

This is your first attempt at poetry? are you sure? Because this was really good.

My only problem is the punctuation. You do not need to punctuate every line in a poem, it just gets distracting.

Ravens claw through the darkness to reach the light.
They hide in my ribcage, waiting for the ghosts to cry.
They whisper,
Sweet ethereal bliss.
When my skin illuminates with red,
They scream,
They’re set free.

Try this: (I also made the first two lines into four lines, to make everything look more even.)

#FF0080 ">
Ravens claw through the darkness
To reach the light
They hide in my ribcage,
Waiting for the ghosts to cry
They whisper
Sweet ethereal bliss
When my skin illuminates with red
They scream
They’re set free.

Besides that, I love it! Keep writing,

May

And you have to flaunt the weird, my friends.
