Mother.
Mmmother.
Mo—
ther.
It leaves my tongue and i follow it down
on my knees,
yet i do not mind.
Where doth i go, Mother?
Where doth i go
if not to you?
i am a naked sheep,
shorn in your image,
bare and shivering and yours.
And you,
my Shepherd,
you are
my Shepherd.
The wolves call my name from their golden altars,
yet i do not mind.
i know my Mother's voice.
Feast Mother.
Feast on my flesh.
What is mine is yours.
What am i to you
if not
your daughter?
Say it,
then say it again:
“What are you to me, Lilith?”
Your sun on my skin.
It's warm.
It's burning—
No.
It tickles.
It tickles, Mother.
Mother.
Mother.
Mother.

Wow! I’ve never seen a poem like this one! It kind of weird me out a bit, but the informality is somewhat comforting? I’m not sure why, I just know that I do like the poem! I am a bit confused that some of the lines are freaky? But you do you! Keep it up.
My favorite part is:
And you,
My Shepard,
You are
My Shepard.
The wolves call my name from their golden alters.
Great writing!

Yes it does invoke an unease when ready which was the point. The narrator's voice is very idolatry
Hello fellow writer! Today I'll be reviewing using the Foliage Review Template!

first impressions
I liked how you structured the lines of your poem: some lines further across the page than others, building an irregular shape and giving your poem a little extre touch! The first three lines sound like you are trying to feel the word "mother" kind of - hearing how it sounds like, how it feels when you say it... it is very good, but the rest of the poem suggests a devotion to "mother", so a long relationship - so I'm not sure it fits very well with how, at the start, you seem to be getting to know that word. But this is your poem - so please feel free to ignore me if you want to! You are the author of this work and know what is best.
I must admit I was a little shocked by some parts in the text; not really in a bad way, more of a really surprised way, if you know what I mean? For example,
Telling your mother to feast on your flesh? Having purple skin?? This all was a bit strange for me, also the part with the wolves having the mother's eyes, but really this must have a deeper/insider meaning, so you can also ignore this if you wish to :3

favorite parts
My favorite part! I think that my favorite part was
I firstly like how you end by repeating thrice the title/main word, and I also like how you go each time a bit more to the left, especially so because, for the first verse and many after, it was to the right. A good way to end the poem! Another part that may just as well be my favorite is,
This is good illustration of the main idea of your poem, I think that in this case clearly stating it like this was a very good choice. Also, you used repetition in a very good way here, not perfectly repetition but still; if you know what I mean? Another thing I liked was how you used "doth" instead of "do" =)

Critiques
Again, I did not really understand some parts like,
Here are some parts that you could maybe make clearer? Unless I just don't understand it because I am reading your poem out of context. Other than that, everything looks good!

Closing Thoughts
Overall, I really liked this poem because of how the lines and spaces were organised, because of how you used repetition really well in certain places, because of how it sounds very good as a poem even though it does not rhyme and because of the great idea you had of what to make this poem about! Great job on this!
I hope to be reading more of you soon. Until then, keep writing and have a wonderful day!
