If it is going to be a short story I think you should maybe have just three characters so that you can develop them more. I have heard of things similar to this before but it would be good if you can come up with an original idea of why some of them may of died? Every idea is worth writing, all you need to do is keep developing and redrafting. Ask your family and friends to read it when you have the first chapter and get their advice.
