Hey! I enjoyed this chapter as much as the ones before it. I'm glad we are talking about Maria again. I would be very disappointed if we wouldn't hear from her again. I think you prove that you have a great imagination, for example, when you talk about traveling in time "sideways". You used something that we hear in quiet a few stories, but you try not to use the same words. Even your character tries to do that. I'm talking about this part of the dialogue : "Like an alternate universe on one of those space shows?,Well, I tried to avoid such archaic terms". You description was very helpful to picture where the action is taking place. I do think maybe a little more description would be great, maybe at the end? It didn't bother me that much so is up to you, you're the writer after all. I think you did a great job and I can't wait to read what's next.:)

Another interesting chapter! I wonder what exactly caught Wenton's eye about that particular world.
Once again, I love your imagery. Especially this part:
"They would have been travelling through darkness if not for the streetlights that blazed a stingy orange blare against their backs"
I love the use of the world stingy to describe the light. It helps me picture the setting but it also helps convey a certain mood, of gloominess and disrepair.
“Well, we need to leave this place to.”
Small grammatical thing here. you used the wrong to/too/two. I make this mistake myself. In this case it should be too.
"Again, with this kid’s intellect. Wenton didn’t know if he was smart for his age or an idiot. Why couldn’t there be any consistency?"
this is very accurate with my experience of young children. Good job!
“How is that archaic?” said Cody, the volume of his voice shocking Wenton. He hadn’t realised until then that their voices had been growing gradually ever softer as he had divulged their situation."
I was a little confused what was happening here. Was Cody shouting and talking at a normal volume and it startled Wenton because they had been talking softly before, or was Cody still whispering very softly and Wenton just then noticed that they had gotten quieter and quieter?
i just had trouble picturing this exchange in my head.
"He turned before he could see if he would be answered, hurrying again up the street towards the clock tower were its lulling ticks and tocks echoed into the night."
One last grammatical error. It should be where, not were.
Overall, a good chapter. We got a bit more background into what's going on with the watch. They're dimension-hopping, not time traveling. There's still a lot we don't know, but I hope we'll find out soon.

Lots of times you have to pretend to join a parade in which you're not really interested in order to get where you're going.
