Salutations.

Well, I am not quite sure how to start this review, if I may be frank. When I read the title, I thought it would actually be an analysis of these "Faustian Themes in Young Adult Literature", yet there was only your typical love story/romance. If this was the point of the whole experiment, then you ahve succeeded, but I am left with the feeling that a scientist just said something intelligent and I understood absolutely nothing of it.

I assume that when I read "theme," it has something to do with the theme of the story as well. However, the only theme of which I can think is how a girl in high school is infatuated with an obviously attractive boy, he notices it, and then he takes advantage of this fact to mess with her. So, if the theme is the male gender can be extraordinarily cruel, then I understand. If not... oh well.

So... moving off of that topic. While I may have missed the idea behind this short story, I can appreciate the beauty of the imagery in it. Actually, I am surprised that you managed to squeeze so many descriptions from such a woefully common and overused subject. (Personally, I would have run out of words after the first few paragraphs, so I shall stick to my fantasy.) Nevertheless, the vocabulary used in this piece is impressive, and if you ever decided to write romance novels, I am sure it would be a success.

Before I conclude my review, my I ask what the final joke was? You are probably laughing at me, which I deserve, but I would at least like to know what the theme is. (At least I got the E.T. joke.)

A prosperous New Year to you!

The title is a joke. There are no Faustian themes in this story.

Thanks for the review, Asgard.

You're most welcome.

Hey! :D

This was lovely and all... it was very hard not to be all "Awww, that SO sweet!"... But then... Erm, he locked in closet! It seems this poor girl is victim to the brutal brain numbness of having a crush...

That is it, right? The point was, he locked he in the closet, with her thinking that he liked her, but really, he was leaving her there as a joke... as a way of saying "Don't call me stupid, stupid". That's what I got from it, anyway! And I love it! I freakin' love the way you write, Prok... or both of you? Prok and Kylan? You two, you are a deadly combination.

I didn't actually get the E.T. joke... am I supposed to? I really don't get it... but it's the morning... so I might get it later when my brain's working better...

I'm finding it rather hard to review this... I was planning on complaining that you guys didn't do the jokes very well ( ? ), but then you totally made it like it wasn't a joke, and only someone with a major crush would be fooled... right?

This was so confusing, and yet so clear. I'm really, yeah, this was great! XP Sorry for the messed up-confusedness of this!

It was all due course and mandatory. This was royalty.

^That made me laugh. On the inside. But it was still laughter. Thanks for the awesome read!

"What is E.T. short for?"

"Extraterrestrial, duh."

"No -- he doesn't have long legs."

Get it now?

Thanks for the review, Holygram. I'm glad I made you laugh (on the inside).

Nah, I still don't get it... but that's just me.

You're welcome! Sorry for all the typos though, I guess I wasn't all that sharp when I wrote it. :/

E.T. is short because he doesn't have long legs.

This has beautiful, fresh descriptions in it-- something I both strive for and absolutely admire in your writing. HOWEVER, at times, it is forced, it doesn't quite register at first, and it doesn't feel organic. Perhaps this is something that you would like to have in your writing, because the strangeness of them is exciting in some way, but personally, I find those kinds of descriptions most effective when they speak some unthought of truth about the way we process things, and they are dense, bright things. This means that they need to seem natural and concise -- almost as if they are an immediate thought, free of processing.

Another thing that I would mention about this: while this is beautifully written, it is incredibly self-indulgent. You might be completely alright with this, it could even be intentional, but I find it more distracting and unnecessary than anything else. Because of the ability that you possess, I don't think it'd be difficult to condense and cut and create even more vivid, succinct images in doing so.

(Also, after having recently read Faust and working with that text, I feel like the title is a bit of a stretch; maybe I'm missing something?)

The title is a joke. There are no Faustian themes in this story.

What is self-indulgent about the text?

Thanks for the review, Pogo.
