CAN WE GO BACK?

"CAN WE GO BACK?"

When he walked through the door, that rainy night in that ATL nightclub, I couldn't believe that it was him. At first I started to approach him. Then my girl, Maria, grabbed my arm and whispered "you let him come to you.." So I did. But now I'm sitting on this couch across from him, crying, wondering if I made the right damn decision.

" I'm so tired of it, Don. I thought this was going to work out. But look at this... LOOK AT ME! How long are we going to play the run around. I don't wanna be your friend... " I yelled this with all I had. Still he had no response for another thirty minutes.

"Why do we gotta go back through this? I want us to work out the kinks in our relationship now before we just jump into this." He finally replied. I stared into his eyes. Thinking about what attracted me to him in the first place. His body was nice, his dark skin was gorgeous and flawless, and his smile was amazing. The boy could dress. From head to toe. But was all these material things worth the pain?

"Ya know what? I'm done..." I couldn't even believe that I was saying this myself. I was though. " You say you wanna build our friendship, you wanna make sure everything is going smooth. HA! Bullshit. Ya know what, lemme get my shit and go..." I jumped up and got what I needed. When I left, he had the nerve to tell me that he still loved me.~~

Don and I have tried the dating thing once before. We were the cutest couple. Everyone would always say "Jamie, you and Don are cute girl!" But that gets old. Plus, the infatuation passed. The reason for our break up is one I can't remember. Yet and still it happened. It was about 2 a.m. when I heard a knock at my door. I jumped up and scrambled down the stairs and through the foyer to my front door. I was full of joy when I opened the door to find Jeremiah.

"Please tell me that you woke me up at this time of the morning for somethin important." When he seen the tears well up in my eyes, he automatically threw his arms around me into a big bear hug. " What is it? What happened sweetie?" I couldn't even manage to get any words out. All I could do was cry. Jeremiah led me over to my favorite area of pillows by my windows that panned out to see the wilderness behind my home. After I was calm, I explained to him what happened. How Don had me on a string. Anything he needed in a woman I provided. I couldn't understand why he didn't want to be with me. I told him about how I was finally able to stand up to the fact that he was never going to come back and I left him.

" Look at me Jamie. I'm about to tell you this crazy ass story. One day, God created this beautiful baby girl. She was so quite and sweet that everyone in Georgia couldn't resist her smile. As she grew up she became friends with the boy she nicknamed 'white boy', but everyone else knew as the All American Jeremiah Dalton. He watched this caramel skin young lady blossom. Watched her sing and dance, make jokes, and heard her loud unbearable laughter for years. Even the All American Jeremiah's mother became fond of the girl. On many occasions, they would go out to eat, shop, and do all those things that mother's and daughter's seemed to love. Because of the fact that Ms. Dalton had only one other daughter who lived over seas, the young rose and her got along perfectly. As this young lady became a woman, many men who didn't deserve her came along and continued to break her heart. Now at the age of 24 she's looking for love. Knowing that love should find her...and.." Jeremiah paused for a second, and cocked his head at me with a smile.

"And what?" I asked. " And I can't remember the rest of the story." For some reason that little bit made me laugh and laugh and laugh.~~

Over the next few months I spent plenty of time with Maria, Tashonda, Tonie, and Rae. They basically showed me that having a man around doesn't always give you happiness. Sometimes you have to venture out and find it on your own, or in God. I took the time out and prayed about everything that was going on. Luckily it made me see clear.

It had been 1 year, 4 months, and about 2 weeks since Don and I had called it quits. I'll never forget this day. It was October 17th. I went to the mall alone. Just to buy somethings for me and that's when I ran into Don... and Tonie.

Ah, darling, our pieces of writing go in the literary section, not here :) So, I'll move this over to other fiction.

Also, it is a major turn off to critiquers to write in ALL CAPITAL LETTERs. It is also polite to critique two things before posting your own story, so I would not only advise you to critique two things, but why don't you go look at the Before your post your story thread.

I realize you're new, though, so try not to take all of this information too harshly. ^_~ Why don't you go visit the Welcome thread, and post something about yourself? Also, take a look at the buddy system, they can help you figure out the rules and where to post things on the site. If you do have questions about something though, feel free to PM me and I'll help you out with anything!
