An excerpt from my novel-in-progress, Shade

This is just like the title says. Hope you enjoy!

I was probably dreaming. That’s it. Dreaming. Of course Miyako didn’t wake up at four A.M. And he definitely didn’t lie down next to me, unaware I was awake. Because that just doesn’t happen in real life…

And I know that Mom didn’t walk in a few minutes later and say, “Aw…” in that fangirl way of hers.

But I was wrong. It wasn’t a dream - it actually happened. I know this because when I woke up in the morning, Miyako had his arms around me and his face was only inches from mine - and my door was wide open. It’s not like I minded. I really didn’t. It actually gave me a happy, fluttery feeling in my chest. But I worried that my family would be upset if they knew. I know Mom came in and was all fangirl again, but what about Dad? Sakura? Brandon? How would they respond if they saw us? It wasn’t like we were doing anything bad or “inappropriate”. We just slept next to each other. But they would get the wrong idea…

And in case you couldn't tell - since there's not a whole lot of indication in this - this is two guys. A.K.A. a gay romance novel. (But there's also a lot of fantasy stuff in it.) ^-^
