Author's Note: Okay, so, I wrote this poem and I figured that it would be pretty cool to put the title at the end because I want you to try to guess what I'm describing. xD It may be a bit hard, and I really don't expect anyone to get it... so, yeah. But, whatever you do, don't cheat! Read the whole poem first. Maybe even twice. ![]()
Also, it's kind of like, free-verse, so give me a break on the whole rhyme-scheme thing.
Thanks for reading! Reviews and stars (if I'm worthy) appreciated.
Let's run rampant through the city.
Arms linked.
Hands intertwined.
Together we are quite a pair;
Promoting odd looks,
Sketchy glares,
From others, not like us.
Let's run rampant through the city,
And make people think twice;
Think about fairytales
And reality.
Hey, wouldn't that be nice,
If they finally realized
That we are not at all the same?
Let's run rampant through the city,
Not ever slowing down
To take one last look around,
For there's people in this city
Who can't quite comprehend
What is the beginning
As opposed to the end.
Let's run rampant through the city,
Finding joy in their terror-stricken faces.
Scare them with our monstrous size,
Scare them with our blood-shot eyes.
Leave them wondering,
"Have we been living among all these lies?
Is there more terror on the rise?"
Let's run rampant through the city,
Being name-called all the while.
We'll just forget them, ignore it,
Just long enough to see you smile.
Although there's one name in particular
That sticks out from all the rest.
And oddly enough, it's the one that fits best.
Monsters.
:) Did you get it? xD

Hey, Monki!
I don't know whether you meant it to be, but the lines in the fourth and the fifrth stanza are longer than in the first, second and third ones. It kind of stands out, because the first three stanzas look flowy and pleasant and airy, but the next two are just stuffed full, and they're not so nice to look at. So I suggest you do something to them.
I wonder why people would think about fairytales when they see horrible monsters? Isn't that a little... contradictory? If I saw monsters, I'd be probably thinking about horror stories and scary films, not pretty little fairytales. That is, before I'd run away.
Agh. Nice is so boring a word. It doesn't mean anything anymore. Although I admit, I use it too every once in a while, but usually only when I'm speaking, not in a poem. It's so dull and plain. I think 'great' would be a better word for this, even though it's not the best, either.
The repetition:
I like it, I tend to use repetition, too, whether or not other people like it.
My favourite part:
The three last lines in the fifth line. I love how they flow and rhyme, good job.
Ditch:
The word 'Monsters' in the end. It doesn't bring anything new to the poem, and it flats the ending after those three good lines. Plus that it's a little cheap to tell the readers in the end of the poem that it's about monsters – it'd be much more fun if they could understand it themselves.
All in all, this was light and bright to read, and it made me feel glad. Thanks for the read!

*sigh*
Honestly, the poem is basically supposed to be talking about two monsters, running hand-in-hand through the city, terrorizing it's inhabitants. They don't mean to be malicious and terrorize the people, they just do, because they're... you know, monsters. xD
One monster is a boy, the other is a girl. That's why they're holding hands. :}
xxD This poem sucks. lol. I was just inspired because I was watching Monsters Inc. Ha ha. The monsters are adorable! I just pictured them all holding hands and terrorizing innocent people, just because of how they look.
It's an awesome poem Monki. The imagery, the flow and the words are just right. I rather liked the repetition of "Let's run rampant through the city."
Sadly,
I don't get it. Other than Monster what could you possibly be talking about?
Oooh tell me!! Please...?
