Songs Of My Youth

This is my answer to the question i have been asked over and over... 'so what do you want to be when you grow up' ??? lol :D :D :D :D

I will be a song growing louder
Rising
I will be sweet sweet sweet smelling incense
From an old Grecian temple
A tower of smoke
Light burden-less
Seeping into the unknown
A song growing louder
Rising
A song of praise
Incense
Dancing past the stars
I will settle on mars
Maybe
For a while
But I will not be
The Mrs.
To your Mr. so and so
I will be my own person
My own song
My own scent
I will sing my verse
With my nasal voice
I will dance the chorus
My own very dance
I will choreograph my moves
In an old room filled with mirrors
Looking upon myself
Unsymmetrical
Blemished
Awkward
And I will call myself beautiful
I will be the star in my song
Not the backup singer
My shadows will ooze from the spotlight
And I will sing my song
A song growing louder
Rising
I will be more than just another pretty face
Another pair of God kissed buttocks
Another lost African child
Another insignificant blotch of blackness
I will not be one of the
Innumerable fine silk threads
Millions
Fused melted sewed matched
Similar identical uniform alike
In together
To form the vast stretch of fabric
I will be the tiny red lace
That stands out
Completes it
I will be a song growing louder
Rising
A song that stays in your head
Long long long
After it’s played
I will be a sweet sweet sweet smelling inscense
That lingers
More than just a dancehall tune
More than just a hiphop beat
More than just a smooth talking RnB singer
More than just another pretty face
Another pair of God-kissed buttocks
I will be a song growing louder
Rising

Wow! This poem has a really powerful message. I think we would all want to be remembered once we're gone. But as the first commenter said all the little nice things we do in a day are important too, as well as the big ones. Just by touching someone life you do something great. But I love how you brought across the message.

I can't see any grammatical errors, so I think you did a great job. I usually prefer poems broken up into verses but I guess if this poem was broken up it wouldn't be the same. So I guess I like your layout too.

I also love you repeat the word rising. It really shows that you are building up to something, and then the end is just amazing. I love the finish where it is just rising. Oh, and thats another thing, your poem had a very capturing beginning and ending. So I guess all I can say is well done!

ver very nice work....,u knw wt..,,
"Dancing past the stars
I will settle on mars"...this is my fav. line in the whole poem!!
this poem actually conveys the message for which it is meant to be.."great men dies.,but the great work done by them live on..!!" is what i can sum up at the end of reading itt!! it is a very natural thing ..wanna be everything that we listen everyday around us..!!
"More than just a dancehall tune
More than just a hiphop beat
More than just a smooth talking RnB singer
More than just another pretty face
Another pair of God-kissed buttocks
I will be a song growing louder
Rising"....gives an impression of beginning rather than ending...,like "to be continued........" thing..!! but it is a piece of nice literary artwork...congratulations..!!:)
all the best.....'n keep on shining..!!:)

This is great. I know we all wish to be remembered long after we are gone, but remember that you will be remembered for the kind gentle actions you do each day to make a difference.

And then, as if written by the hand of a bad novelist, an incredible thing happened.
