The Alley Cat

The Alley Cat

There once was a cat

who looked like a bat

He was no ordinary cat

He was an Alley Cat.

He was black and white

and liked to bite

He was No ordinary cat

He is an Alley Cat

He was a squirrel eater

and was a frog beater

His name is Sylvester

And he is The Alley Cat

Well, I agree with Dream_Catcher. But it's okay if a poem is elementary; maybe it was intended for elementary readers. The main thing wrong with this poem is the lack of a consistent tense. You alternate between "was" and "is" every few lines. Which is it? Keep writing!

ultimately the poem is very elementary.
