The start of something new.

PreviousNext

Why is it that most of our change occurs in college? As we enter our new lives, we hope that we can erase all the memories of the past and start off fresh, and clean. With big dreams and blood pumping fast in our veins. Holding the knowledge of an adult, but the eagerness of a child. I'm not in college yet, but the wait to change myself is unbearable. So...why wait? Why can't I change right here, right now in my sophomore year of high school? Well, I have been. But it has not been easy. There's so many small challenges in high school. Yes, I said small. Because I have seen big challenges where people have to work night and day just to support their family. Where people have no idea where their next meal is even coming from. And compared to the real life, high school challenges are small. But regardless, they're still challenges. The first day of my sophomore year I came bearing much knowledge of how to have maximum fun, meet new people, and genuinely keep my confidence and my moods up. I was no longer going to hide myself to the world anymore. I was going to go all out. And everything seemed great...for the first 2 weeks. Afterwards I fell into a depression where my days were filled with anxiety and fears. I became the worst me possible. I started getting confused, and my days were hazy and my memory seemed to deteriorate by every waking day. I didn't understand how I could have been so low. It was a dark time that still has resonating feelings in me till this day. Maybe I lost myself? Maybe I got so caught up in my quest to change myself that I forgot who I was. I mean, I would always compare myself to the top tier of society, trying to be people from Vin Diesel to James Bond. Yeah, I'm that type of guy. So after so many questions, I went to the one place where teens of my generation always end up going to. The internet. I looked at self help sites, self improvement sites, and even wikis How-to's sites. Each day I started improving myself, picking myself up, living life to the fullest, facing my fears, trying new things. I started to let go of past presumptions of life and simply started something new. Instead of thinking about who I was, I started creating who I was. I came to a truth where life simply is. I worked on my skills, diminished my flaws but overall accepted who I was. I am me, and there's no one I could be better at being. I still have high school challenges. Tackling tough problems such as the best way to ask a girl out, or being nice to everyone. But these challenges are what make me stronger. I'm sure there's enough high school posts on this website, but it's not about mine being better or mine having more depth. It's simply my truth. "Be yourself". It took trying to be other people to understand what that really meant. But remember, who you are now will not be who you are in 5 years. You might know so much more, you might do so much more. Who knows, you can find the cure to aids. But in any sense, the future is unknown. And I am exited to see what tomorrow holds for me. Bring it on world.

hey hi, I love the title :) Start of something new. Beautiful. And the phase of life you are going through, its really great you put up your feeling us here. The only suggestion I have for you is, WHAT YOU RESIST, PERSISTS. Do not change. You are awesome the way you are. Because when you try and change, its another way of showing you do not love yourself the way you are. DO NOT go into the world of MORE BETTER DIFFERENT FASTER. When can never change. Accept yourself the way you are. And by that I don't at all mean there's no good that can happen to you, all am saying is, do not go into the world of change. Future is unknown. But you can create it as you go along with your words. And HAVE PROBLEMS WORTHY YOUR LIFE!

First of all, there are no breaks between subjects. This makes readers like me jut skip over it and go to the next piece of literature. I know that that's not right, but it bugs a lot of us when there is an on going paragraph that should have breaks in it.

Then again, I completely understand if your computer messed up the piece and it became one huge paragraph.

That's all I've got for you. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to better you as a writer.

Surround yourself with people who are serious about being writers, and who will tell you, ‘Hey—you can do better than this.’ Who will be critical of your work, but also supportive. And who will not be competitive in a negative way.
