Dear Poetry

This is for you dear "Poetry"
You're skill of the existence in me.
My heart, what else so special could be
You are the product art protruding out of me.
I couldn't have found another way,
Without you, I was to meet the bay,
Rather vaporizing into the never-ending sky,
Without you I couldn't think of a day.
So as my truest companion, full of compassion,
You are the interpretation of my color creation,
Next to my subconscious submission
You're the color of love infusion.
Cuddle me oh poetry, wrap me in warm wisdom
Crown me the heir of your wise literacy kingdom,
Me the empress of your beautiful youth, would seldom
Forget the art of grey graphite scribe and leave alone.
My valentine to your name,
Dear poetry, you're my courage aflame,
Could any pity fill me in shame?
As I lie under you acclaim.
-MC

Hello, I must say that your poem took a rather interesting turn. Rather than the poem being about something such as love to a girl or being in a depressive state, you took a turn no one could expect and wrote a poem expressing your love for the writing.
I would be lying if I told you I wasnt impressed, never have I read a poem expressing love for poetry itself. Not to mention that I actually enjoyed the poem rather than getting bored.
Keep up the great work and keep writing from the heart.
Hi MC!
I really like the idea of writing a love poem to poetry itself. It's a great concept. I'm wondering also if the photo you have included is your own and/or sort of a prompt piece?
You have some really nice lines here. A particular favourite:
I think it particularly captures the relationship people have with poetry; oftentimes, it has a lot to do with people feeling that they can only express themselves through their poems and provides that pseudo safe space.
I do have some trouble understanding other parts of the poem. The English actually seems a little off-kilter at times which is confusing. I would recommend that you go through and revise accordingly so that it becomes clearer. For example, I don't really understand what is meant by the second line: "You're skill of the existence in me." There are a fair few other lines that seem like they *should* make sense but actually don't. I'm wondering if maybe this is the result of having lots of ideas that you wanted to incorporate and maybe didn't know how.
I commend you for writing a rhyming poem. Honestly, I find rhyming in poetry can be quite challenging to commit to and I'm happy to see that you really stuck with it! Good job.
Let me know if you have any questions! I look forward to your revisions.
Best,
Lav
Ah! No that's not me...hehe
Sometimes I write to mean myself, it's confusing I know, I'll definitely let you know if I needed help.
Thank You so much for the review.
I love the photo choice. It really compliments the theme of the poem and it sets up a scene. The fact that it looks like the poem is hugging the writer shows that it's about to be a warm and sweet story. Sorry, I am going on and on about the picture but I definitely wanted to make a comment about the selection of the image because you did a really good job with that. Now since the picture is at the top it really helps us to understand the feeling of the story which I interpret as you feel comforted by poetry. You said that "Without you, I was to meet the bay,
Rather vaporizing into the never-ending sky, Without you, I couldn't think of a day." which shows that without poetry you feel lost and with it, you feel warmth and comfort. This quote by itself is extremely powerful and I just love the way you worded it. Thank you so much this was the first poem I read on this website and I will definitely remember it due to the creativity and powerful words that I can relate to. Amazing job with making the reader feel emotions and thank you for creating a scenario I can relate to.
Thank You so much! You can expect more poems like these in future. The best is yet to come.
