The board is quiet, carved in black and white,
Two kingdoms waiting at the pooling light.
The wooden pawns advance with cautious grace
Each marking boundaries in the silent space.
A silent match where noone sheds a tear,
Where evry choice is measured ,sharp, and clear.
The knights move forward, winding through the maze,
While bishop watch across diagonal ways.
The Queen commands the centre fierce and bold,
Protecting secrets that the ranks unfold.
A final check, the silent, quick end,
Where ancient rivals find a quiet friend.

Hey Lynn! Excited to dive in and review your work. I love this chess poem! My husband is rated and plays almost every day - and we live in the Chess capital of the US so.... We're around it a lot lol.
Just as a quick nit-pick, you're missing some spaces following your punctuation! Make sure to put a space after every comma. Maze/ways in the second stanza is a little weak for me, I wonder if there's a better ending word pair to keep the rhythm of the rhyming?
Overall, I enjoy your rhyming scheme, and it feels very natural to me, not like you forced it. I wonder if you added "edge" to the second line how it would flow?
Lastly, I felt like your last two lines were a little confusing. I'm not sure if it's the way you have it formatted or the wording - but I'm just not sure what you're trying to say?
This was a fun, quick poem and I thought it merited a fun, quick review! Overall - nice work and fun topic! Keep it up!

Hi Lynn! I am here to review your work!
First off, I really like the rhyming pattern. The imagery used in the poem is clear and perfect for chess, so good job!
I think this is just a typo? missing an 'e' for every
This may be a typo too but bishop needs to be bishops
I think the comma need to be placed after check, not before it for this last sentence to read right.
Overall, a really nice poem. Thanks for sharing it with us!
