Strength

I'm not that keen on the title and I think the poem is a bit contradictory in places, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Stop telling me I'm perfect

Stop telling me I'm pretty

Don't tell me it's all in my head;

That I'm just being silly,

Stop making it okay for her to be skinny

But making a big deal whenever I'm not hungry.

I know I had my problems

I wanted to be small

I starved myself

I forced the sick

I went through it all

Now I'm in a better place

I want to play it safe

I don't want to be skin and bones

I just want some strength

Don't worry if I exercise

But tease me when I'm fat,

It was you who raised me lazy

So I pushed to extremes in the past.

It's time for me to get healthy

But I'm going to need some help

Because I so want to be stronger

But I'm scared I'll hurt myself.

This is an incredibly powerful and well-written piece. The best part for me was the last stanza:

Now I want to be healthy
But I'm going to need some help
Because I so want to be stronger
But I'm scared I'll hurt myself.

The title is fine, though maybe you could add the word Gaining or Finding in front of it. Well done, and KEEP WRITING!

A powerful piece. I think the title suits perfectly, seeking strength, lacking it and gaining it.

I love her dearly, but I can’t live with her for a day without feeling my whole life is wasting away.
