Dear Juliet pt.2

The second part of A rose by any other name or Dear Juliet. I don't know what to name this. Help? I will try, now, to write more than what I wrote last time. So, enjoy, and comment please! :smt005

I got up and walked away, but was, again, stopped by him gently taking hold of my arm.

" Juliet, I fail to understand why you won't dance with me."

I pulled my arm away.

" Surely you understand we are from different kingdoms," I said, speaking through my teeth," Kingdoms that are, in fact, at war now! You can not expect me to dance with the enemy. What would our fathers say?"

Something mischievous sparkled in Romeo's eyes.

" But, now, our fathers aren't here. So please, I beg of thee, dance with me, dear Juliet."

" No."

" Do you not like me?"

" Yes."

" Well then, let me ask this question, If you and I were merely peasants, then would you dance with me?"

" Yes."

" Yes?"

" Yes I would."

He took off his necklace, that once hid under his shirt. and tossed it across the room. The necklace that labeled him 'Prince' was now being stepped upon and kicked around.

" Oh, princess Juliet of Carnia, would be be so kind as to accompany me to a dance, for I am just a peasant and would be honored to dance with someone of such beauty and royalty." He bowed down on one knee, letting all the delightful honey brown hair fall across his face. I couldn't help but chuckle.

" You are, indeed, a horrible actor, Sir." He stood up, dusting off his trousers.

" Is that a yes, dear Princess?" I paused for a moment. One dance couldn't hurt much, could it?

" Yes, but what about your necklace?" As I spoke I fingered my own necklace. It was a handmade silver chain, I wasn't a big fan of gold, with a giant diamond right in the center, the diamond was surrounded by smaller emeralds. The whole thing was magnificent. " You will need your necklace, or else, you are no longer allowed access to your castle, or any of the royal privileges."

He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the dance floor.

" That was only a copy, my real necklace rest in my pocket."

" So you tricked me," I scowled.

" No, not tricked," He lead my in precious circles, my gown kissed the floor with every spin," I simply used your ignorance towards my necklace to persuade you." I nodded my head.

I allowed myself to get lost in dancing. I didn't have to watch my footfalls, Romeo was a fantastic leader. Everyone, eventually, stopped to watch us as we glided across the ballroom. I was aware of their eyes on me, on him, on us, but that did not bother me. Romeo spun me around once, twice, three times, and finally four times before pulling me into a dancer's embrace.

" Having fun, Princess?"

" Yes, very much." He chuckled.

" I thought so."

He then dipped me down and brought his face to mine. His lips were centimeters away from mine, if only I could lean in a bit closer. He sighed and the coolness of his breath washed over my face, white dots momentarily blurred my vision. He was so close. The people watching us, the whole ballroom, clapped, and I blushed.

" Until we meet again, Juliet," he whispered before pulling me up," Unless you would rather not see me again."

" Until we meet again, Romeo."

I walked away, and this time, he didn't stop me.

The violinist played around me as I lowered myself into the bath. Christine, my maid, settled flower petals into the tub. They spun gently with every ripple I sent pulsing through the water. She hadn't noticed, but I soon arranged the petals to spell 'Romeo' on the water. It has been four nights since the ball and I am still looking out for him, dreaming about him.

" Princess," Christine gasped, a bit frantic.

" Yes, Christine, what is it?"

" I asked many times if you wanted yo start your washing. I was afraid you might have fallen asleep or," she put her hand over her mouth," died." I laughed.

" And what would make you think that, dear?"

" Well, Princess, your eyes were shut, and you didn't move. I had grown afraid."

" I apologize, you may start the wash."

I thought endlessly about Romeo as the violins played, and Christine washed. Romeo's lips, his eyes, his hair, and, oh, his body. With all honesty, if someone had asked me my name, I would have said Romeo.

Water poured over my hair followed by a blend of soap, and the smell of cherries. Christine rubbed this into my hair and I laid back.

" Ah, Christine," I whispered," You are the best in all the kingdom." She giggled and continued washing. Christine, at times, was more than my maid, she was my best friend, I had serious thoughts about telling her about Romeo. I should tell her right-

" Princess, are you-"

" Christine, I must tell you something."

She stopped washing and I sat upon the edge of the tub. Water rolled down my body in tiny drops that sparkled when they caught the light. I waved my hand, dismissing the violinist. All five of them left, one by one, and afterwards, the room seemed much bigger. I stood up as Christine got me my robe.

" It's about Romeo." Her eyes got big and her mouth dropped open.

" You mean the-"

" Yes, Romeo, prince of Thalspar." Christine then moved to sit in a wooden chair.

" Yes, what about him?"

" He and I danced at the ball four nights ago." Her mouth dropped open again.

" But he's a Thalspar," she spat the name.

" Yes, I know."

" We're at war with them, Princess! My brother-," she paused," There are lots of people of Carnia out fighting them as we speak, today! How could you even-"

" There is something about him! Something very special. I don't know what it may be, but there is something."

" Evil perhaps?" I glared at her.

" No, not that. The way he-"

" -looks at me," Christine finished sarcastically," the way he smiles. Yes, I know what you were going to say, but forgive me for interrupting." I paused, looking down at my feet and the puddle of water that slowly formed around them.

" Yes," I whispered," exactly." There was a pounding on the door and Christine jumped.

" Princess," I t was the voice of Liverend, the mail carrier," Princess, I have a letter for you. I was instructed to bring it to you immediately."

Christine rushed to the door and pulled it open. Liverend stood there, panting. He grasped the door frame for support, his face flushed red and the hand that held the letter shook. Christine took it, whispering a quick 'thanks' before closing the door. She glanced briefly at the envelope and gasped,

" Princess," she chocked out," It's from Romeo."

Well, that's all for now. I must go put up part three of Schizophrenia. Please tell me what you think, and give me an idea for the title. Should it be "A rose by any other name.."or "Dear Juliet"?Or, perhaps, something entirely different? Well, bye-bye now!

:elephant: :elephant: :elephant: (And there they are again, stomping on my dreams. Oh, woe is me.)

'Ello,

" Yep, Romeo, prince of Thalspar."

Pretty sure a Princess would not say Yep! consider changing it to yes. It is far more formal.

" No, not that. The way he-"
" -looks at me,"

This is awkward. You dont need a new line, just write it like this: "No, not that. The was he-the way he looks at me," It also sounds better ;)

I liked this part more than the last! and once again, you did it to me... You left me with a big AAAH!
Good job, post more! haha
PM me when you do...
