Hi, this is just an idea that slapped me while I was in Health class. Tell me what you think!

Boys have cooties. It once was as simple as that. Cooties, those nasty little things booger eating, action figure having, stinky smelling boys got. And because of that simple fact, you didn't talk to, touch, play with, or share things with them in fear of getting those much hated cooties. The only cure for cooties was to give them to someone else, and the only way to prevent them was to cross your fingers. Simple, right? Well, yes, when you're in Kindergarden it is.
So, tell me, when did everything get so complicated? Since when did the cooties become deadly? Nowa' days not just the guys hold cooties, but girls do too. There's no cure for cooties now, and to prevent them you have to cross, not your fingers, but your legs. When did everything change?
John has cooties, and Gracie didn't cross her fingers. Gracie has cooties! Mark, cross your fingers! Don't forget to cross your fingers.

Haha, very cute. I can imagine a small child tying themselves in knots whilst thinking about this.
'Nowa' days' - I like the little hint of slang, I'm not sure why. I guess it just adds a little more to the voice of the protragonist I guess.
The last line threw me off a bit. The sudden panic of someone getting cooties is funny, but the last sentence has little effect but throws it off a bit.
Anyway, I liked reading this. It's beautifully simple.
I like it. I find it simple and yet funny at the same time. Sounds like something a pint-sized philosopher would write.
Little nitpick:
Did you mean, "not ONLY your fingers, but your legs."?
