I like Emily better! Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite books.

I know Sakura. I love both of them too. But Wuthering Heights was more of my type of romance. Eh. I spent half an hour thinking this over when I first saw the question.

How can you choose?

Mm... Rochester...

I thought we settled this on the classics thread. Charlotte wins hands down. Admittedly I didn't finish Villette, but Jane Eyre makes up for that.

Charlotte all the way. Plus, she has a much prettier name, IMO (not that Emily is bad, but Charlotte's just... better.)

Charlotte, Charlotte, Charlotte!

And Monki... you've honestly never heard of Charlotte, Emily or Anne Bronte- or should I say Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell?

They do, don't they?
Heh. I'm only judging by the movie I saw, with Ralph Fiennes and Juliet Binoche. Love that movie!

All you people who prefer WH over JA, I must ask, how is it possible to prefer Heathcliff to Rochester? Heathcliff is like my psychotic little nephew. Rochester is the epitome of wit, darkness...

Well, I vote Charlotte, and I've read both Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. So, er, I think my vote should count for . . . three! Um, I guess.

Wuthering Heights was . . . good. But I wish both MCs had died at the end.

Jane Eyre rules. Sorry people. :D

I voted Emily. I love Wuthering Heights. It's one of the romances where everything actually makes sense to me, plus, she has the added bias of me sharing her name. :smt002

:smt019

And that is what I say to anyone who voted Charlotte! Heh, just kidding. Seriously, Jane Eyre is awesome too, which makes it so hard to choose. In the end, the bias tipped the balance. Just kidding again. Honestly, I picked Emily since her novel is what I'm more comfortable with.

I vote Emily ... I loved Wuthering Heights. All that drama and hate! Good fun. However I did really like Jane Eyre too ... so it was close.

Definitely Charlotte for me. I loved Jane Eyre especially. It's one of my all time favorite classics. I always feel bad for poor Anne, though. Her two sisters are so acclaimed and she's not really at all. It makes you kind of pity her.

Wow, we have eighteen votes and this has only been going for like three days. xD
I shall win. I shall win!!!!!!
We should get everyone on YWS to vote. Everyone!!!!

Emily for me. I liked jane eyre fine but wuthering heights is one of the most romantic, heartwrenching books I've ever read. It has a much more profound effect on me than any charlotte books.

For me it's Charlotte. I love both Jane Eyre and Villette and couldn't finish Wuthering Heights---I mean, it was good, yeah, but a bit silly. Plus I hated Heathcliff . I wanted to slap him. And Cathy, come to think of it.

Jane Eyre is the book I read when life feels crap and I just want to escape. I want to be Jane!!! I truly think my world would be different (and not positively so) if Charlotte Bronte had never written that book.

Sorry, Kirsten, but it's another vote for Charlotte from me.

P.S. You should have included Anne. We'd have seen if anyone on the face of the planet actually liked Agnes Grey. What a disappointment that was.

CastlesInTheSky wrote a review Review · Jan 7, 2009

Gah! :P
It seems I shall have to even things up, Kirsten.
Yes, I love Charlotte, and I take full credit for driving her to this. You shall not convert me, Emily-fanatic. xDDD
I mean, come on. Jane Eyre is just stupendous. ^_^
