Being a novelist is no easy task. Whether it’s coming up with a new idea or cultivating an existing one, there will be obstacles one must overcome so that the said idea can grow from mere pages to a dreamland of adventure. I find myself with the concern of writer's block. It may not be a dilemma to most, but to a writer it can be like the bubonic plague slowly draining one’s mind until there’s nothing left. Writers block can happen out of nowhere and can last hours if not days. When I find myself staring at a computer screen rereading the page 10 times, I know the plague has hit. Frustration sets over me as not even a word survives the mental disaster. There are some solutions when this happens. Like William Goldman once said, "The easiest thing to do on earth is not write." I find myself stepping away from the computer and pacing around my room. When that does not work I go for a walk down the block and secretly grab a snack to eat. In the end, spending time away from whatever I’m working on for a period of time (unknown) seems to be the only true solution for me. When the block subsides, new ideas flow and old ones can be improved. While this is a nice refreshment, losing a train of thought is never pleasant. To conclude, writer's block can be a novelist’s worst enemy, if not my own, with no immediate cure. While this may be my biggest concern, I find myself thinking back to Barbara Kingsolver prideful words: “Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don't try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It's the one and only thing you have to offer."
You've just read mine, so tell me whats you biggest concern when it comes to writing.

My biggest concern is to stick with one story.
Honestly, right now I'm working on "Cam, Chacen and Fate"
(working title, I hope you know) as best I can.
I don't often get writers block, and when I do, I can usually break it with some freewriting. My biggest dilema is in the editing phase. Often I find that there's so much I want to change it's hard to see the wood for the trees. I get overwhelmed and put it aside for later and get through it at snail speed. Fortunately, the more I practice writing, the cleaner my drafts become, so it's getting easier.
Hello,
I too, think writers block is my biggest concern. Although, I don't get it alot...
Probably the best thing to do is not write until the block has ended, stop thinking about it. If you can't think of new idea's after a week or two, you might be a little concerend. So when you have writers block, relax. It'll probably go away quicker!
