A Pinch of Sacrifice

The wave licks your toes,
a sloppy kiss indeed.
There’s a tickle in your throat
but at least campfires
are better than cigarettes.
The cliff sheds its skin on your back
but no matter
you’d pay a dearer price than that
to watch stars fall asleep.
Wet sand clings to a wet shirt
scrape scrape scrape
all the best memories
require a little pain.

Love, love, loved it, especially the last two lines(like everyone else) you obviously have something there. I have yet to look at other poems of yours, yet this one I got a feel for it. Keep up the good work!

I don't know what this poem is about at all I'm sorry to say. Really it's just that GOOD!! It take a really awesome poem to confuse me. (Trust, I know.) This poem did the job twice as much. It's too short to get anything from it and that's good, don't worry. It kind of makes sense. Each of those peaceful memories had involved some kind of pain, am I right? Also it has wonderful wording and is an enigma of rhyme. I absolutly love it. Anyway great poem and keep up the great work!

The poem has very nice wording. I like the effect of the syllables and the rhythm you created with them. Reading it flows smoothly, and it's very clean and easy to understand. Overall a very good work. The few mistakes-- if one could even call them that-- only further add meaning to the poem.

Hey! So I really liked your poem! It was very nice simple poem that included a lot of imagery. I think the imagery you used was great and I could really picture almost every line in your poem. There was a minor grammar error in the line "wet san clings to "a" wet shirt" but other then that it was great

Hey there. Rebel's commenting on your lovely poem. :)

I enjoyed your poem. I pictured this beautiful, grand beach at night when I began reading your poem. Nice imagery.

Now onto the constructive critiscm. I don't think the line "Wet sand clings to wet shirt" wouldn't be the best before "scrape scrape scrape". I feel as if the lines about the cliff would be better before "scrape scrape scrape". And the line "Wet sand clings to wet shirt", I think that inserting an "a" before shirt would improve that sentence.

Overall, a simple yet pretty poem. I like it!

Good call all around :) Thank yah!
