Love, be home for Christmas

Hey.:) So, 'tis the season...:) And I think that at one point or another, we've had loved ones who were away this time of the year. So this is for all those forced to work the hours of Christmas and the families that miss them back home.:)

Happy Holidays loves.:)

------------------------------

Flicker lights upon the tree
And bring my love back home to me,
Keep him warm despite the snow,
And send the kisses I shall blow.

Lead him back through darkest night,
Guiding by your glowing light;
Softly whisper in his ear,
That his voice I long to hear.

Flicker lights upon the boughs,
Set his yearning heart aglow;
Flame the star that marks his way,
Lead him home and bid him stay.

Flicker lights upon the tree,
Lead my love back home to me;
Let Christmas carols fill the air,
And when I look, my love, be there.

I really like this poem because it sounds cute and like a traditional Christmas poem where girls wait for their lovers to return for the festive periods. I like it but I agree that you should change "Guiding" to "Guided" so that it would make more sense.
Keep these lovely poems coming!

Alright, so, this was cute, but that was about it.
I found this poem repetitive and somewhat bit boring. I didn't feel anything from it, and I want to feel something when I read a poem.

Lead him back through darkest night,
Guiding by your glowing light;
Softly whisper in his ear,
That his voice I long to hear.

This stanza confused me, though it's simple. It didn't match the flow of the other parts and,within the stanza, the second line didn't fit.

First off, this is a very very cute poem. Something you might see on a Christmas card. The only thing that sticks out is the "flicker lights" bit. I'm thinking you mean to imply that the lights are flickering, but it just sounds a little bit odd the way it is. Also, "Guiding by your glowing light" is a teeny bit confusing too, only because there are two words in the sentence ending in 'ing'. Perhaps "guided" could be used. Either way it's very sweet. :)

Poetry is my cheap means of transportation. By the end of the poem the reader should be in a different place from where he started. I would like him to be slightly disoriented at the end, like I drove him outside of town at night and dropped him off in a cornfield.
