Cute and short, as those before me have stated. The last line did indeed make me laugh, and I think even without the explanation of the French, the idea of little Betty Black would still have hit nicely in a suble way. You let simplicity speak here.

Though I do agree some description would be nice I don't know how much I'd like it changed. As it is, it's simple, straight forward but keeps uncluttered meaning. I'm sure you could find a way to include description that would not be encumbersome, but perhaps it is just as nice as it is?

Indifferent springs to mind when it comes to my feelings about this. I'm not all to with the French scene, I must admit and it made me confused - what with my two brain cells working so hard to understand, they devoured each other, but I liked this.

Wow, this was really ... intense, or it would have been. Something about the actual wording is not as good as it could be. I can't put my finger on it, but reading it is like that feeling you get right before the Eureka! moment; it's almost perfect, and it's driving me mad.

That being said, it's pretty wonderful either way. It's really dark, in this really beautiful way. Keep up the good work.

Hah, this made me chuckle. I also thought of East of Eden and how Cathy gets rid of her parents. It didn't do that much for me though, because each line on it's own is kind of bland, but slightly good, although the last line forces one to laugh, and love it.
