Finding You, part 6

Hey everyone! This is part 6 of my story I have been writing, I know it has been a while since I last posted, but please if you can take some time and read and review! Thanks guys :)

A few weeks had passed since Maria and Colby had talked, and even though she thought about him more and more each day, they had not scene each other since that night. It was late one evening when Maria was spending some time with Max and Anna and Lily that Colby had to come to the house to talk to Sam.

“Hey Colby” Sam greeted him.

“Hi” Colby replied to Sam, but looking down at Maria sitting on the couch. He then followed Sam out into the garage. Everyone was busy talking about Hollywood gossip when like a roar of thunder, tire’s stretches into the driveway and before anyone had time to react there were several banging noises at the door.

Everyone in the house jumped. “Mommy, who is banging?” Lily asked, covering her ears. Maria was the first to look at the small window in the living room to see who it was.

“Oh my God Max, it’s Mike!’ Maria said in horror. Max quickly guided her and Anna away from the window as he sung out to Sam and Colby.

“It’s daddy!” Lily squealed, not knowing how scared her mother really was of Mike, Lily’s father.

“Sam! Colby! Get in here now!” There was another loud bang on the front door.

“Who is doing all the banging?” Sam asked as he entered the room, seemingly pissed off, followed by Colby. He then noticed Maria sobbing. “What’s wrong?” Sam asked her placing a hand on her back.

“My daddy’s here!” Lily told him. Sam looked back down at Maria to confirm this. She nodded her head.

“It is Mike, he’s outside, and he’s going to kill me.” She cried back. As of now, no one had a clue why Maria had left Mike; they now had their reason. Sam reached for his gun and Colby did the same.

“Maria, go upstairs with Anna and Max.” Sam told her as he stepped towards the door to open it. She refused.

“No, I am facing him now. Lily get upstairs with Anna and Max.” Lily refused.

“No! I want to see dad.”

Maria picked up Lily and quickly handed her off to Anna. “NOW!” Maria yelled at her, which silenced Lily’s complaining.

When the three of them had gone up stairs, Sam opened the door. “What do you want?” He asked as he saw Mikes large figure standing in front of him.

“I want what is mine!” Mike snared back.

“She’s not yours.” Colby responded, glaring back at the man.

“Oh really?” Mike replied back, with a cocky grin on his smug face. “Is she yours?” He was half drunk, they could all tell. Sam responded.

“She is a human being, not a piece of property, she belongs to know one.” Mike laughed at Sam’s response and pushed passed him to get to what he wanted. But Colby stepped in his way as he blocked him from Maria.

“Leave now!” Colby yelled at him. “She wants nothing to do with you.”

“Well I want everything to do with her.” Mike snarled back. “She is MY girlfriend and she is coming back to MY hotel room with ME!”

“I am not going anywhere with you!” Maria piped up from behind Colby. “Never again! Do you hear me? Never again will you see me or your child!” she continued as she stepped out from behind Colby, ready to take on Mike.

“Why you little bitch! Been away from me to long you started to step out of line!” He raised his hand to slap her.

“Yes Mike, hit me with two armed FBI agents watching you!” He looked at both Sam and Colby with there hands on their guns.

“You touch her and I will put a bullet between your eyes.” Colby threatened him.

Mike went to leave but before he left, he said, “This is not over bitch!” and with that he slammed the front door. Maria broke down into tears as she raced upstairs to the guest bedroom, and Colby took off after her. Sam just stood in the living room, stunned at what just took place. His best friend was being abused and he didn’t even know.

Seconds after Maria closed the door Colby re-opened it to find Maria hugging her self as her tears fell onto her face. She turned to see Colby standing there and she raced over to him and hugged him tightly, not caring anymore of how much he had hurt her in the past. She just needed to feel safe again.

“Hey, it’s okay, I’m not going to let him hurt you or Lily okay? Never” Colby said hugging her back as she cried into his chest.

“I am so scared Colby.” She replied.

“I know, I know sweetheart. But you were so brave.” She sniffled and looked up at his handsome face as she broke away from him and walked over the window and looked out over the large city. Colby followed her.

“Maria,” he started, “why would you let him hit you?” Maria looked down at her feet ashamed.

“I thought I didn’t deserve any better. After everything with my step-dad, and then every jerk I dated in high school, and then you “died”, I thought that’s all God wanted to give me.” She told him looking up at him. “And the fact he told me that he loved him every single time he touched me. Every time he hit me, he’d go away for few hours and come home and give me something nice and tell me he loved me and that he was sorry and that he never do it again. And the fool that I am, I believed him!” she replied, letting more tears falls.

Colby rubbed her back as he said “your not a fool okay? No matter what he says.” She nodded.

“And then the next day, I’d do something wrong, and I would be the worthless piece of trash again. I had enough, but he told me if I loved Lily I would stay. He never physical hurt me until I got pregnant with Lily. He said I lost my looks when I had her, so I disserved to be beaten.” Colby shook his head in disagreement.

“You’re as beautiful as the last time I saw you.” He said as she blushed, as she finished what she was telling him. She began to cry a bit harder.

“Then one night Lily was sick and she was crying loudly, and Mike got up and he hit her, and when he got home from work that day we were gone. I told myself I would leave if he even raised a hand to her. God Colby I put my own child in danger! What’s wrong with me?” She cried to him and went back into his arms.

“There is nothing wrong with you Maria. You were scared for your life, and Lily’s. You have nothing to be ashamed of okay? Nothing he said was true. Your not worthless.” Colby said, hugging her closely.

“When you hear it for so long you start to believe it.” Maria sniffled as they heard a knock at the door it was Anna.

Anna raced over to her and hugged her. “Hey are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’ll be fine. Where’s Lily? God she must hate me for yelling at her.” Maria replied.

“Okay, good! And Lily does not hate you, but I think you should talk to her when you’re ready. So I’ll just leave you two alone.” And Anna was gone.

Maria looked up at Colby and said, “I should go get Lily and get back to the hotel. Thanks Colby.” And she walked back down over the stairs.

Lily saw her mother and raced over to her before she got to the final steps.

“Mommy why can’t I see daddy? I want to see him! What’s wrong?” Lily asked her.

“Nothing baby, but we have to get back to the hotel okay? Say good bye.” Maria told her. And Alan piped up.

“You two are not going any where!” he turned his attention to Lily, “Honey, why don’t you go up stairs and get ready for bed okay?”

“Okay Alan! I love sleepovers!” And Lily ran back up thee stairs.

“Alan,” Maria started.

“No buts my dear, Sam called me and filled me in, and there is no way I am letting you go back there where he could get to you so much easier.” Alan replied hugging her.

“Thank you so much.”

“No problem my love. Tomorrow, you and Sam and whoever can go back to the hotel room and get your things and bring them here.”

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.
