I am known as invisible;

artistic,

quiet, different, and

expressive.

Relative of she who is well-known.

Lover of the arts

and music,

of quietness and dreams,

Who feels that darkness, depression,

and weakness

will someday soon

take over her

dreams.

I am the one who needs help from others,

the sight of happiness,

and the heftiness

of love,

yet I am the one who fears society,

mirrors, and scales.

I am the one who gives my best,

and gives the worst, and sometimes,

I am the one who gives the

rest.

I am she who would like to see

happiness upon my face

in the mirror,

a sigh of relief whilst stepping

on the scale,

and finally,

I am she who would like to see

her hopes and dreams

finally come to be.

I am the resident of the middle of nowhere,

lost in my mind.

I am known as invisible

I love the uniqueness about this poem and how you used the formatting. The title struck me as interesting and is actually how i feel right now, so i clicked on it. Titles always have to catch the readers attention so well done :) I usually don't love formatting that goes outside the norm with bolds and such, but you use it in a really creative way. Was that part of the assignment? I'm curious. My favourite poems paint me a picture in my mind with words. I'm a sucker for imagery, and I get none from this. For a new starter like you, you have some flawless work! The punctuation is on point. The capitalization is perfectly included. I don't think I have ever seen an entry such as this. It stand out from others like it. My one note on that is that sometimes poems about oneself can get to sound very self-indulgent. Overall well done!

Keep up the good work :D

This is a really interesting work! I usually don't love formatting that goes outside the norm with bolds and such, but you use it in a really creative way. Was that part of the assignment? I'm curious.

Anyway, this is a very poignant portrait of yourself (I'm assuming it's told from your perspective, excuse me if I'm wrong). It's very sad and still very hopeful and sweet. Your present your flaws, fears, hopes and dreams very clearly. My one note on that is that sometimes poems about oneself can get to sound very self-indulgent. Every time you use the word 'I' it's sort of like telling the audience "Look at me! Look at me!". My biggest suggestion is to cut down on your usage of 'I'. Maybe change to a different perspective. If you observe yourself from the outside, it may make you more likable or relatable to your audience than you narrating yourself to us. Don't misunderstand me, it's not that this poem makes you sound unlikable. It makes your sound very human. You just might find it more effective to change the way you tell it.

My favourite poems paint me a picture in my mind with words. I'm a sucker for imagery, and I get none from this. You have the line "I am the resident of the middle of nowhere". I'm incredibly intrigued by this, what does it look like the middle of nowhere? Don't just tell me that you're sad or worried or invisible. Make me see something. If you expand on that, you'll find your poem will be much more effective.

I understand if this poem was meant to be a self-observation from the first person, and so if it is, don't change anything. However, if it was not for school and you wanted to write a truly effective poem, I would take into account some of the suggestions I've made here.

Keep writing!
