We once were in love, you and I, its adventure unreal, intoxicating even.
Together, we didn't notice the sweat on each others' hand when we held them.
I would whisper "I love you," in your ear, and linger for a moment,
and you would say it too, sometimes, while I worshipped your scent.
I'd wrap my arms around your delicate frame, perhaps showing them off.
And when I kissed your neck, your heart would beat faster, audible.
You'd run your delicate fingers through my hair, when I'd lay in your lap.
We were each others' armor, and nothing could break us apart.
But armor is weak from within, and many things were broken.
I don't know what caused it, but I lost you, and you abandoned your trust.
I still cannot rediscover the treasure I remember in those blissful times long-fled.
I still cannot rip my eyes away, when you gracefully glide by at school.
Your beauty, none see like I do, the way your eyes communicate to me.
I know what you think from across the room where we see each other.
When pure chance brings us close to one another, I remember the nights of past.
I know you do your best to forget them, along with the memory of me.
How I was your absolute rock, always a comfort when you had nobody.
But in vain, because you could not rely on me to be there forever.
I war with myself internally, whether to reach out and seize you,
kiss you one last time, before this life is long gone from us.
Before we leave this temporary place, and life pulls us away.
Whether or not to invest in our future now, or if it is another mistake.
Then, you pass without noticing my struggle, and oblivious to my torment.
But in your wake follow tangible memories, made of beautiful knives.
They ride on your smell, I identify it immediately, my heart jolts in reaction.
Those knives, I willingly invite them to bury themselves in my chest.
Knives of the two years I spent in your shadow, stumbling with no sun,
and the two months you spent in my arms, smiling up at me.
I search for the secret I so readily possessed those months ago.
What lure I gave you to make you mine, prepared for eternity.
I have tried all but the cold embrace of death, with utter futility.
When cars pass, they know little of my temptation to leap before them,
and only few people know of the scars that lie under my shirt.
Looking back on the time we shared and the life we could have woven,
I wonder to myself each day, "what happened to us, what happened to me?"
What happened to our love, our bond, our strength, and our friendship
I come to the same undeniable conclusion that I always do... I happened to us.

This writing really got to me with all its deep and heart touching emotions. I love the way you emphasised on your inner conflict of emotions and how you managed to keep them contained within you. The idea of confusion makes the text more romantic and realistic. The recalling of certain moments was fantastic with the perfect combination of feelings and description. I admire you for being able to add many senses to the poem. This gives life to the poem and makes it more attiring and real.
I am really out of worlds to find the correct description for this work. When I read this poem I cold literally feel the pain and the conflict within the speaker. The fact that the speaker passer the lover everyday makes it even a more unbearable situation. The ending was also amazingly heart breaking, 'I happened to us'.
It is a really powerful piece of writing that I fell in love with...so great job!!! Please continue writing!!

thanks so much! That means a lot to me.
You're welcome. Keep on writing! Sorry if the writing is based on your own experience.
I will. And, it is, but time heals all things!
yeah, eventually.
Wow this was a very powerful piece of writing here. Its very dark and depressing and i love it. The fact that you can actually feel the emotion of the narrator and have it dwell over you as well is good indication of a great piece of work. I loved the hurt and the depressing feelings of the narrator. You feel so sorry for him and you cant help but want to help them through the pain of his loss. The darkness definitely comes from the lines "Knives of the two years i spent in your shadow, stumbling with no sun" This line is very cryptic and makes you feel that the narrator was stalking this person. The ending was very good as well when the narrator came to the conclusion that it was all him and it was his fault for the loss of her and the relationship. This was a good piece and i loved reading it. Great job.
sorry I forgot to reply. thanks so much for your review! I appreciate it!
The ending was spectacular "I happened to us." I just had to say that, know onto the review part.
You had some really great lines in your poem such as: When cars pass, they know little of my temptation to leap before them," that was the first line where I actually felt the pain and frustration of the narrator, how badly she feels and blames herself for what has happened between her and the love of her life. you have minor spelling and punctuation errors in the poem that aren't really worth mentioning just read through it and you will see them.
"what happened to our love, our bond, our strength, and our friendship" you are going to want to put a question mark after that line.
Again this is a great poem just go through and see what errors you made, and keep writing!
thank you I will!
I'm a guy though haha.
My badness lol!
