A Thousand Thoughts

I remember the first time we met, I didn't look at you.

I stared. I couldn't believe my eyes had been so blessed.

I felt blinded, and somehow, by either effort, or perhaps blind luck,

you saw me, and our journey began together.

Nights passed that I recounted my deeds before I had met you

wondering what great favor I had done for the universe to be honored so

honored that I could look down on your ashen face

and trace the contours of your lips with my pinkie, calling you mine.

my hand pressed to your chest, your heartbeat sonar, vibrating through my body

jarring my soul, mystifying my mind, and jolting my very core.

Look at me not, for your stare pierces me like the arrow through my heart

The plot line of our time together, highlighted with an unforgettable kiss

an invigorating tonic that galvanized my bones, making my chest tight.

whether my heart was swollen or my lungs crippled, you had control

your spell on me had me in subjection, and I was unconcerned if I knew it or not.

Because never before had I heard the love songs, or watched the movies

and understood what it was like to be spread thin, and to not mind.

Realizing that I was only complete with you, and anything less is a half-life.

Never before had I been part of a whole, a unit in a bond of two,

synchronizing our lives to run flawlessly,

for however far the bridge of our infatuation could span.

No watch can measure it's time forever, without missing a tick occasionally

But our love was baptized by fire, which forged it together with authority.

And yet here we stand, deluged in rice and flower petals, a roar around us.

But the only thing I can focus on is you. We are so close I can count your pores

perhaps I will take the time one day to do so, it would be enjoyable

but I don't have time right now, I have to say the most important part.

To answer a question that has brought some men to their knees,

crippled war heroes and defeated kings alike.

But here I stand like a statue before the torrent, saying "come what may,

do your worst, for I have my very best before me," the proverbial storm.

But now we stand in peace, as I relish the moment when we will soon kiss again.

The question rings out, and before I answer, the flow of the world hiccups

In this moment, this miniscule iota of time, a thousand thoughts bloom in my mind.

your mahogany eyes find mine, our gazes the only ones familiar enough to matter

A million words and memories reveal themselves, past, present, and future

But I'll take your hand, and I'll give it my best smile when I say

"I do."

PeanutPhoebe, here for a review!! Okay, so first off, the very first thing I noticed was the formatting. I don't know if you had trouble getting it the way you wanted or what, but it really needs some work. Secondly, in the first couple lines, you say that at the first meeting "I didn't look at you." Okay. Then in the next sentence you say, "I stared." When I read it, those contradicted each other. Maybe you meant to have the "staring" as a dramatization. In that case, I suggest putting a comma in between the two. I love the way you describe everything to a tick, especially since that's always what I have trouble with in my writing. The best was pretty good. I know it can be hard to write this form of poetry well, and you did great at it. Keep writing!!

Hi KaspynPaxian! Cheetah here, ready to review your piece.

This is a very unique piece of poetry. I've never tried to write in this style because it seems difficult to me, but seeing what you've created, I just might. This was truly extraordinary and it might be the most poetic poem I've ever seen, if that makes any sense at all. My favorite section was this:

Nights passed that I recounted my deeds before I had met you

wondering what great favor I had done for the universe to be honored so

honored that I could look down on your ashen face

and trace the contours of your lips with my pinkie, calling you mine.

my hand pressed to your chest, your heartbeat sonar, vibrating through my body

jarring my soul, mystifying my mind, and jolting my very core.

You have wonderful description here, something that I find very challenging, which flowed effortlessly.

There's nothing more to say, this was beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it.

wow thanks, i appreciate that a lot! really!! that's about the best compliment you could have given me. I guess passion brings out the best in a writer! :D

It sure does! Keep writing! :)

I must say not half bad. With a lot of things it could be better. But then again there two things you can never forget. Number one is be true to your self if you not than your words have no meaning at all.The second don't try to please all its impossible 1 person will all ways disagree. Still like i said before you did not half bad usually competely lovey dove things i don't like at all
