Pudding in a Tree

The sun is setting
My siblings are out sledding
I travel to my favorite tree
Where I can be free

A pudding cup in my hand
My iPod playing some band
I look out on the world
Watching a little girl as she twirled

This is my escape
It’s like watching a videotape
None of it seems real
Like getting a good deal

The night chill sinks in
Teens sneak out to do a sin
Joggers run about
Dogs are being loud

The neighborhood watch
Looks out for people drinking scotch
Chaos runs the streets
While I listen to my beats

I get lost in my thoughts
My life just rots
Along with everything
I just do nothing

How could it be
So impossible to be free
My pudding cup empty
I thought I had plenty

My iPod runs dead
I’m aching for my bed
My decision is made up
I throw my pudding cup

I climb down the tree
Resigning of my own kind of free
Chaos runs my house
After everything went south

Screaming, running, biting
My sibling are hiding
I lay motionless
My family is hopeless.

I think the whole thing being bolded/italicized kind of turned me off. It makes it look goofy.
At a lot of points it sounded like you were just rhyming for the sake of rhyming, or like you just took two words that rhyme and then put them into some sort of context. It threw the flow off, for one, and kind of dragged it out.

It's not really a bad poem, I kind of like the premise, and some of the lines were actually quite nice. Like,
"The night chill sinks in
Teens sneak out to do a sin"

I liked that.
