The League Of Strange And Exciting Boots.

So it is exams and i needed something light hearted to write and relax So here it is. Enjoi.

************************************************************

The street was full of people running to and fro, some were selling wares from trays tied around there necks. They looked liked ants, scurrying to the nest to curry favour with the queen. Within this mass of movement a man walked calmly stepping to the side and saying sorry to those who bumped into him.

The Man was dressed in rich but old and rather ragged clothing. His boots stood out, they weren’t the usual black or brown leather but were by the looks of things multi-coloured. He spotted someone that he seemingly recognised and hurried to him.

“Good day sir may I have a few moments of your time?”

“What you want?” The Man had approached the one figure that was being fully avoided, and for good reason. He wore a giant blue hat with pink flowers upon it, to go with his hat he wore a pink flowery dress.

“I wish you to give me your gold. Now, if you please.” The crazy man looked taken aback.

“What?”

“I am a thief and I believe thieves take belongings belonging to someone else.”

The Man removed a small pouch from his side.

“If you deposit your gold in this pouch I am sure we could become best of friends.”

By now Crazy was looking quite confused, he had of course been mugged before but usually that was with a knife or a poisonous snake. He quite enjoyed the Poisonous snake muggings. The mugger usually got bitten.

After staring at The Man for a few minutes Crazy had finally decided on the best course of action. He began stripping out of his clothes.

“I thought I was bloody crazy.”

“Sir, there is no need for you to strip.” A crowd had gathered. Many street sellers were taking advantage of the situation and were doing some good business.

“You! Shut! Up!” Crazy yelled the words with a pause between them. “The Doc said I might see people. But this is beyond crazy. I don’t want to be crazy anymore. They said it would be a good way to make money. I could live like a king in my alley.”

A few people in the crowd had begun to joke about the situation.

The Man picked up the hat and dress and offered it to Crazy who threw the clothes up into the air and laughed hysterically.

“You are all LIARS!”

With this he went bounding off down the street stark naked. The Man himself looked at the crowd and smiled.

“Can you all give me your gold please? I am a thief new to the city all help is greatly appreciated.”

A ripple of laughter went through the crowd which was now a fair size. Coins began clinking to the floor as people realised the events were over and were wandering off.

The Man began collecting it politely saying his thanks to the crowd as they moved off. The Man stood up and counted his haul. Twenty small silver, a toothpick, one glass eye and the cream of the crop a dead mouse.

“Not a bad day of stealing.” The Man deposited the haul into his pocket. “What do you think George?”

“Samuel, I think that we are going to get our riches back in almost no time whatsoever.”

A tall handsome man, wearing almost exactly the same clothing as The Man apart from his boots which were strangely sparkly and reflected the light, had appeared next to him.

Hello!

RandomTalks here with a short review!

I am so glad I stumbled upon this story. I don't remember the last time I have read something so strangely hilarious in my life.

I will admit I was a little confused at first. I could not understand why the characters were addressed by nouns and adjectives instead of simple names. I am not sure how, but by keeping the characters anonymous, you have made the story even more comic and light. It draws the attention from the characters and instead makes us focus on what is going on right now in the story instead. The characters then gain only a fleeting purpose and when the story, or rather the show in this case, is over, it feels more like a short moment dedicated just to enjoying the simple laughs in life. In fact, once the group disperse, and the 'Man' collects his rewards into the hat, it feels like now that the drama is over, people have returned to their real lives and the curtain has dropped on the story.

I really loved how you have created such a light and carefree atmosphere in the story with your use of simple words. There is nothing complicated about this story, it is not meant to convey some deep lesson or address another complex truth of life. Its beauty is in its simplicity and I like that it does not deviate from what it is trying to present. The fast pace kept things simple and we simply just breezed through the story. Details and descriptions were not the point in this story, although I would have appreciated some inclusion of the character's thoughts. However, the fact that you did not include any adds that element of mystery in the story as we are left wondering who exactly this 'Man' is and who that mysterious partner in the end was.

“I thought I was bloody crazy.”

This entire part made me laugh out loud. I could feel the confusion of this poor man. No wonder you named him 'Crazy'. If he wasn't crazy before, then this encounter certainly assured him of his madness. But if a thief came up to me one day and asked me to hand over my belongings using 'please' and immaculate grammar, then I would be scared for my sanity as well.

A tall handsome man, wearing almost exactly the same clothing as The Man apart from his boots which were strangely sparkly and reflected the light, had appeared next to him.

I guess this was the one part of the story I did not get. Considering that the mention of the 'boots' is in the very title of the story, I thought it would have a greater importance in the main narration. its reference in the end made me wonder if I have missed something important during my read.

Overall, this was a really light-hearted and funny story and I am glad you shared it with us.

Keep writing and have a great day!
