David Zindell's series, of which Black Jade is the third, is just fanatstic. I know this forum is all dead but I entreat you to read this book and the ones before it. They are ablsoutely brilliant, the struggles are so very real, the characters are three dimensional and the pain they experience through their trials is just phenomanal in its scope and realism.

Huh. I totally forgot this thing existed...and I don't really remember Black Jade at all, though I remember the series...I think I'll take my own advice and go back and read this thing. ^^
