Ending Light part 1

Chapter 1: Lost.

Lent Pacer woke up early in the morning, as he always did, ate his breakfast, put his clothes on and got prepared for another day at work.

He kissed his wife softly and she smiled, just like every other day that had passed, Lent embraced his daughter and son, said that he loved them and if they were good to their mother he would bring back gifts, and as it always had been, the children promised to take care of their mother.

Just like any other day, Lent pulled on his black boots and his brown coat, pulled an almost toothless comb through his thin fragile hair, the little that still grew upon his round skull.

He gently stroke his thick beard and smiled with pride over his masterpiece, as he had always done, during his happy years.

Before Lent walked out the door, he always turned around to look at his family, his everything. They were smiling and waving at him, Lent always let out a silly chuckle and blew them charming kisses.

However Lent did not know that today was the last day he would see his beloved family, forever…

When the door slammed behind him Lent moved swiftly down to the docks were he had worked for almost all his life, today he seemed a bit more cheerful than before and jumped like a young boy towards the smell of fish and the ocean.

Just like the passing days, Lent knew that today a large shipment of fish would arrive and if he worked hard enough his family would have delicious fish for dinner.

A cold wind suddenly hit him and Lent pulled his coat tighter around his body, but the smell of the salty ocean made him feel all warm inside and he moved even faster, soon he was there, soon it would all be over, Lent sighed and bit his lower lip.

It began to rain, Lent pulled his coat even harder around his chubby body, but his hands started to shiver and it became harder for him to walk, suddenly this day began to feel less wonderful. The shadows around him got bigger and Lent felt as if someone was watching him, his hands started to shake even more, from fear this time.

A shadow came closer, Lent spun around and looked in every direction, but all he saw was dark shadows, crawling closer and closer.

”Anyone there?” Lent called out in the early morning.

He never got an answer. Lent opened his mouth to ask again, but all that slipped over his lips was strange words with no meaning. He tried to call for help, but all he heard was distant words, his throat had been slit open and warm blood traveled down his chest.

Lent sank down on the cold ground while pressing his hands desperately against his broken throat, he felt the chill of the wet ground against his almost naked head, one single tear rolled down his pink cheek.

Lent Pacer was never seen again, his body was nowhere to be found, his whole life lost in the depths of nothing. Lent Pacer was just a common man, with an ordinary family and a simple job, no one understood why anyone wanted to bring poor Lent any harm, but as the time moved on the memory of Lent Pacer slowly died, just like those who had suffered the same fate as him.

Those who still remember Lent Pacer was his beloved family, who soon would face the same ending…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Justine Pacer woke up fast, she had never heard the thunder strike down so hard before, she wrapped the blanket around her tiny body and quickly ran towards her mothers room.

She walked silently into the the bedchamber and crawled up in her parents bed, she moved closer to her mother.

The thunder came again, much louder this time and Justine hugged her knees so hard to her chest, she let out a soft cry and moved even closer to her mother, she heard nothing, not a breath, not anything. Justine put her head carefully to her mothers chest, and yet she heard nothing.

Justine sat up, it was so dark, she moved across the floor quiet like an assassin in the darkest of night, she found a candle which she lithe with elegant ease, she looked at the tiny flame and it reminded her of herself.

Slowly she turned towards the bed, and took a deep breath. She began to walk slowly to her mothers side, she felt the shadows moving closer as she reached out for her mother and caught the soft fabric of the covers.

What Justine saw that night would forever haunt her mind and dreams never giving her the rest she would need.

Her mothers eyes were fixed upon the roof, her face was pale as the freshly fallen snow, her slim lips were red from blood.

Justine Pacer looked upon her dead mother and felt the world coming crashing down on her, she screamed in agony and sorrow and in her madness she dropped the lithe candle upon the bed.

The family Pacer’s house was consumed by flames that night, and no bodies were ever found, there was nothing left, almost no proof that the Pacer family had once been alive, all that they could find was a picture, a family photo with big happy smiles.

.... Gory. Wow.
I was breathless when Lent died. I had no friggin' idea. I was like, gasping. Haha. It takes talent to do that, my friend.
Oh god. How can I critique this...
Screw you. I don't know how.
It was good! I just wish there was more to it. I really wanted to see what happened in the end.
And I did. And I was sad. Because Lent died.
And I really liked Lent!
