Closed Doors

It is behind closed doors
that even the happiest familes
break down into tears
and fall in dark voids
of haunting pasts
and present mistakes.

It is behind closed doors
that little girls learn
to turn their backs
to the yelling and screaming,
the angry shouting,
and the one sided arguments.

It is behind closed doors
where the interior changes
and the sticker cardboard cut-out families
get their own colors and lines,
as we set up their play's stage
and give them their own stories.

It is past the shut windows
and drawn shutters
that the winds whisper in
but they never carry out
the emotional anger that homes
contain.

It is beyond thin walls
and thin floors
that children learn that
sometimes
their parents,
their family,
are not heroes
with their own
fairy tales.

It is beyond the home,
its outside that changes
in every setting and surrounding,
the sounds and smells are different
yet
we only see what secrets that they hide
never and always.

Where slammed doors are loud
and silent nights are unbearable,
the tension that we see through our child eyes
is choking and suffocating
and we cannot do anything
because there is little to fix
what is beyond saving.

It is behind closed doors
that the fighting ensues
and the problems appear,
where no one knows what is going on,
because they have their own
closed doors.

So. A little personal poem that I just wrote.. the flow is a bit iffy and some stanzas are not my best work, but I just wanted to convey something that I think could be found in many different places. I would love to hear feedback, it is always appreciated. Hope that you enjoyed!

"It is behind closed doors

of haunting pasts
and present mistakes. {I like this Stanza. It really pulled me in, good work so far! :D)

It is behind closed doors {I like the repetition}
that little girls learn
to turn their backs
to the yelling and screaming,
the angry shouting,
and the one sided arguments.

It is behind closed doors
where the interior changes
and the sticker cardboard cut-out families
get their own colors and lines,
as we set up their play's stage
and give them their own stories.

It is past the shut windows {Nice change and I like that this line still goes with the shut doors}
and drawn shutters
that the winds whisper in
but they never carry out(,)
the emotional anger that homes
contain.

It is beyond thin walls {Very nice!}
and thin floors
that children learn that
sometimes
their parents,
their family,
are not heroes
with their own
fairy tales.

It is beyond the home,
its outside that changes
in every setting and surrounding,
the sounds and smells are different
yet {This is a super short line comapred to what you wrote in past and future lines so I would add a comma or put it up a line next to different.}
we only see what secrets that they hide
never and always. { Very different. ;)}

Where slammed doors are loud
and silent nights are unbearable,
the tension that we see through our child eyes
is choking and suffocating
and we cannot do anything
because there is little to fix
what is beyond saving.

It is behind closed doors

closed doors."
This is very well written! I like the meaning and the ending is resloved yet not resolved which is very interesting. I hope this helped! :)

Nice. Very deep and I felt you are very passionate about this subject. :)

Perhaps when we find ourselves wanting everything, it is because we are dangerously close to wanting nothing.
