Stuck

PreviousNext

~ THIS IS SOMETHING I WROTE WHEN I WAS FOURTEEN, SO YEAH
APOLOGIES IF IT'S NOT GOOD, I WAS SHIT AT POETRY THEN, AS I STILL AM NOW. :?ANYWAY CRITISISM IS WELCOME GUYS. GOD I WAS SO GAY BACK THEN. ~

I'm stuck.

Stuck in my own head,

full of terrible thoughts.

Thoughts that would cause me to harm myself.

And the people around me.

But I don't notice that they'll be hurt too.

No notice here.

Stuck in my head,

I believe that I'm hated.

No friends nor family would understand,

I'm stuck on my own.

Until my last breath.

I use my wrists as my canvas,

a blade as my paintbrush.

It takes my pain you see,

No-one understands.

I'm stuck in my head,

Where no-one cares.

I can feel myself slipping away.

There's so many people I want to apologise to,

I didn't mean to leave you, I'm sorry.

Mum I'm sorry,

Dad I'm sorry,

Kate I'm sorry,

John I'm sorry,

My only friend, Sarah.

I'm sorry.

But I know there is no love for me inside you all,

I will take my last breath before sinking down into the water of the tub.

Goodbye my family,

I will always love you.

Even if I was never loved in the first place.

Hey itscharley!
I'm Hanorah and ill be reviewing your poem 'stuck' today ;)

First off, from reading this poem I can tell you not 'shit at poetry'.

You used it as reflection of self, and even if someone thought it was bad, there will always be someone who likes it. Because you clearly put thought and emotion into it, even if it has emotion in it an everything else in it is messed up, it would still be good.

Ok, I thought this poem was great, so don't bring yourself down! The images in the poem were great, the descriptions brilliant and it flowed well.

The description of your wrist as a canvas and blade as a paintbrush is pure genius!!!!
So 10/10

Hello there! Infinity here to review.

This is a really good poem, there's a lot of thought, emotion and effort put into it so a very well done for that. But I would like to add some suggestions that may help improve your poem even more.

"I'm stuck.
Stuck in my own head,
full of terrible thoughts.
Thoughts that would cause me to harm myself.
And the people around me.
But I don't notice that they'll be hurt too.
No notice here."

Good opening here, but just a minor thing but I would cut off the last line because the previous line is effective enough.

At some points in the poem it feels more like a letter than a poem, that's not necessarily a bad thing I guess. There is also an awkward stanza length in each, it's a bit uneven but if that was intended it's okay.

I really liked the imagery of your wrist being a blank canvas for a blade, even though it's not the best thing to see but it was effective. I like your final line, it was deep.

Thanks for the review! xx

Woah, this is the furthest thing from bad.
I like how each line is short and to the point yet i you still portray the pain so cleverly.

"I use my wrists as my canvas,

a blade as my paintbrush.

It takes my pain you see,

No-one understands."

This is by far my favourite verse. Although its self harm is painful/hard subject, you convey it to be an art, which I think is very powerful.

It might not have been the most attractive poems to read, but nonetheless it was very insightful. well done

Hey, runawaylove here to review your poem!
First off, I was shit when I started out. I didn't use a rhyme scheme or even stanzas. I'm fourteen now :P And I know exactly how you felt.

"I use my wrists as my canvas,

a blade as my paintbrush.

It takes my pain you see,

No-one understands."

This stanza totally applies to me as I cut my wrists. I did it today also. One thing is that i think you should drop the line spaces after every line. This poem is truth written in the simplest form. Its beautiful. I have nothing more to say. Good to know that someone passed this phase that I'm going through. Keep writing. :)

Thanks sweetheart xx

I wrote my first poem when I was 8 lol, it was about my teacher or something like that. Don't even ask of it. I guess everyone starts like that. Sometimes, even poems from only a few years back tend to embarrass you. But I think it's normal since we don't remain the same person that we were back then, I wouldn't burn all my old poems even if I thought they were dumb now because they stand testament to the fact that I've evolved over the years.

This poem is about your feelings and thoughts of suicide, with the same old references to wrist-cutting and drowning yourself to death. But I can see an innocent poet behind it, writing her heart out, so I don't dare judge it. It's nice how you're not ashamed of your old poems. Keep going :)

Thankyou very much! :) xx
