The Truth

Listen!
Do you hear that?
The voices inside you
Are whispering your ultimate fear:
You are alone.

Hush!
Those screams will go unheard.
Your pleas will do nothing
But fill the darkness with echoes,
Resonating, calling back,
But perceived by no one but you.
Because you are alone.

You will find no comforting hand
Or recognize no familiar face.
There is no soul who recalls your existence,
Or will ever pronounce your name.
Because you are alone.

The darkness and fear slither close,
Felt, but unseen,
Coiling their way up your body,
Dragging you to the ground.
Their icy tendrils encircle you,
As you rage against their suffocating grasp.
“Help!” you cry,
“Someone free me from these clutches!”
But no savior comes to your rescue.
“Help me!” you beg once more.
I would, but you see,
I am nothing but a voice in your head
Whispering only the truth:
You
Are
Alone.

What the H-E Double Hockey Sticks! This was wicked! The ending just a mind blow! 'Just the voice in your head' I'm all mother of pearl! This was great! I loved it, they should make a 'LOVE' button I would push it, a bunch of times. Wow I can't explain how much I liked this, hope to read more from you!

Hands down BEST part.

You, sir, are way too good for your own good! This is a beautiful poem, just like the rest of the things you've written before. I'm glad to see another one of your works on YWS! Keep it up!

this is a beautiful piece of poetry you have written here. you use a lot of imagery which adds to the tense atmosphere you created. I love the last three lines which end the poem of with a deep and meaningful realisation which will captivate the reader. you are a great writer and i think you should write more of these poems.

Wow. Just whoa. This poem is completely beautiful, and I don't say this lightly. This points out what I am feeling, and I actually felt some fear in my stomach. It is beautiful. You commanded the words so wonderfully that I had to review, even if to say that this is the best poem I have ever read on any site whatsoever. I may have to quit poetry after this. You included the reader into this poem so well, started off with suspense that would kill, and ended it with our most feared feeling: lonliness. Wow. You are amazing my dear.
