The Womb of My Affections

The Womb of My Affections

My burdens steered me here

In a treacherous direction.

The shackles made it difficult,

The shackles of shame and rejection.

.

If you are reading this now,

Do  know that I’m in pain.

It took me my all to do this

And it will never happen again.

.

It was something which took place

A long, long time ago.

Awoken my affections

And imbued me with sorrow.

.

I may not know you well,

But I sank in rather deep.

Time and thoughts casted a spell

And robbed me of my sleep.

.

I sifted through my feelings.

One by one ungloved.

And after months of denying,

I realised it was love.

.

Your kindness is endearing,

Overflowing and surreal.

Enheartened  me with worth

But enslaved me with zeal.

.

Your presence brings me healing,

But sometimes it hurts to know

The rate at which I’m feeling

And your absence by tomorrow.

.

I tested out my pride

To see if I were fickle,

But it didn’t matter anymore

‘Cause my heart sights are now crippled.

.

One day you may lack

In measure or in display,

But I can’t tell the difference

‘Cause you’re perfect either way.

.

I ran an ultrasound

To find the cause of this.

But this is too profound,

Discernment ran amiss.

.

I guess there is no reason.

It’s just you and you alone.

Like a king who wears the crown

Simply by inheriting the throne.

.

This  virgin heart was fertile.

This never happened before.

This is past superficial.

This is something more.

.

But still I do not harbour

Any hope of bearing fruit.

I need to obey the Father,

So in His plans will I take root.

.

Sowed the seeds of strife,

Forming what’s not yours to carry.

I’ll never be your wife

And it’s not you whom I’ll marry.

.

This conception won’t come to pass

I labour but in vain.

I hope this goes by fast,

Could no longer stomach the pain.

.

In the name of grace,

Please pardon my release.

I hope this changes nothing

But keeps us both at ease.

.

The ease of getting by

With our usual norms.

Without the need to shy

Or mask in pretentious forms.

.

Promise me one thing,

That our friendship will not cease.

I hope things remain normal

So I can miscarry in peace.

.

May life keep and love you,

The way you did unto others.

And may happiness find you

Even till the day you be another’s.

Ah, a poem about lust, and heartbreak. Those are very good subjects for a poem!

"Or mask in pretentious forms." I really like that line, it sounds very nice.

The words in the poem are good, more like great, but there's a lot of grammar mistakes that make it too difficult to read. Most of it is the commas and periods. You seem to have all the periods in good spots, but some of the commas just don't seem to fit where they're place, or it may be that there should be more to make it flow together. I kept looking for specific examples, but it was a little difficult because it seems to be running together then pausing at weird times.
Another thing would be the capitalization you used, it isn't grammatically correct. If there isn't a period at the end if one line or stanza, the next word should not be capitalized.
Example:
This is what you wrote,
" Your kindness is endearing,

Overflowing and surreal.

Encouraged me with worth

But enslaved me with zeal."
It should be like this:

"Your kindness is endearing,

overflowing and surreal.

Encouraged me with worth

but enslaved me with zeal."

I hope that helps! If you just fix the grammar the poem would be perfect! (:

Keep up the good work!

Ahhhh......thanks for pointing those things out! Hmm this poem isn't about lust though, just about love...or more like a soppy friendzone situation xD Thanks again for the thoughtful reply, really appreciate it! :D

Ooh poetry! I haven’t written poetry in a long time but I actually had a poetry binge yesterday where I started writing all kinds of poems for whatever reason. But, I do love your poem. It speaks levels and volumes to me. Having a crush on a guy is something that is not really up to par anymore with today’s society. It’s always now just love that’s taking the form of lust, and no one knows the huge difference between the two. But, really trying to express the way you feel to your crush rather it be face to face or through letters is the hardest thing to do because you don’t know if he is going to like you back. I really do love your poem.

Thank you so much! I just feel that loving/liking someone who lead you on but doesn't feel the same way can be likened to a lonely labour, it's like being impregnated with a child that you have to raise on your own. Hence the pregnancy metaphors. Nonetheless over the years I've learnt that love isn't a feeling... Lust is a feeling. But love is a choice. P.S. This poem has an illustration which I will upload once I have more points. :3 Thanks for the thoughtful review! <3
