Poem title: Unfinished

PreviousNext

All my life I bled paper tears

They’ve gathered in my trashcan over the years

The shredder is turned on once a day

But it's not fast enough to keep the piles at bay

Scribbles drawn on top of black lines

Translated as little stories of all kinds

Paper clips cannot organize

The printer of tales behind my eyes

My poor characters stories who never got told

Replaced by something of a newer mold

How can hundreds of tiny lives be created

But their time never came no matter how patiently they waited

They all have a brief moment in the sun

Then their story is over before it's even begun

Every one of them is a part of me, however small

If only I could give love to them all

And maybe one day when I focus on one

I’ll be able to call my first story “Done”.

As I read this I think back to my unfinished story that I put all my effort into and now I'm thinking if I should finish it? I never thought about how many stories are left unfinished because it wasn't "good enough". This pains me that a decent amount of stories go untold. This is beautiful. It astounds me how many writers such as myself can write so beautifully. Everyone can interpret these writing so differently and it is amazing. Your writing gives so much meaning to unfinished stories and I absolutely adore it.

Hi! Thank you so much! And if I were you, I'd try! Maybe you weren't in the right place to finish it before, but there is no harm in trying it now!

Maybe I should continue writing it. Thank you for opening my eyes!

This clearly means that time after time when you were inspired to write it all went down the trash can. This may be caused by lack of motivation or (even worse) writer's block

As you continued to write and create countless characters you began to get burnt out, not knowing how to continue to continue their story.

Okay this one hit me hard tbh. This one means that when you do follow trough with created a character that you feel as if that they don't get the "limelight" they deserve

Keep on swimming,

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

That's how we should measure our lives. Not in distance traveled, or time passed, or worlds conquered, but in moments... and the rush of joy—of grace—that exists within them.
