Anger is slow, persisting
Dripping down, down, down onto your head
It’s a leaky roof, a reminder of what needs to be fixed
Something that seeps through the cracks
Until it collects
A bucket, a temporary solution to hold your problems
But the buckets are people
A helping hand, something the anger can pour into
Until it overflows, its own water seeping into the floorboards
Slowly and steadily, the cracks appear in the foundation
Growing the longer it’s ignored
More buckets overflow until you’re drowning, overcome by the problems you refused to face
Anger is consuming
Something that surrounds you, forcing you to sink deeper into its clutches
Fighting is harder
Surrender is easy
Surrendering isolates you, refracting the light until your depths are dark
It takes your air, your voice, your choice
Anger takes it all, forcing your eyes to close
The pools of anger eat away at your skin, digesting you until you’re nothing but bones
Until you’re a shell of what you used to be
Anger is vicious
Waves of red crash against the solid foundation
Pounding and battering whatever is closest to prove its strength
The water breaks and sprays, losing more and more of itself in its quest to conquer
It destroys and ruins, marring anything that is swept up in its angry clutches
Anything that the current can take and mangle
It will be seen, heard and felt
It will be remembered
The scars in its wake are permanent
Nothing it spits out is ever the same

Review:
As Kafka once said: "If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for?". This poem definitely does that, wake us up with a blow to the head, I mean. Even though I am really sleepy right now, reading this made me feel very much awake, and aware, which is exactly what literature is supposed to do. Leave an impression. Visually, the poem looks great, there are lots of fantastic stylistic choices, impressive written pictures, but still, the emotional impact is what really blew me away. The poem moves gradually, and so did I, while reading, with every line, I became more and more invested, I felt my own anger, boiling up, then simmering down. Anger is something I struggle with myself, so this piece also struck a chord with me on that level, but yeah, great work, all I wanted to say, really.
Thank you so much!
Hello. I'm Ash, I'm here for a review.
To start, I really like how this is set up. I enjoy the center alignment and the rounded paragraphs. It's visually pleasing.
On the content side of things.
I quite enjoy the way this poem conveys anger. I love the adjectives and personification to make the reader feel this. It makes me feel like I'm actually experiencing this currently. I love the setup of "Anger is slow, persisting" then "Anger is consuming" and then "Anger is vicious." I actually like it quite a bit.
I don't actually have any critiques to make, this is really good.
I apologize for my small vocabulary. (。ŏ﹏ŏ)
