I Cried for You

I cried for you.
Every night, silently,
I let it out then.
I let the tears seep through my bloodshot eyes
Until my whole face swelled with the pain.
I let my pillow soak and encumber the deafening noise
Of my silent screams.

It was the uncontrollable kind of cry,
Not the kind you force upon yourself,
As that would be self-abuse.
It was the kind of cry that just persists
And persists until sleep seems unattainable.

And you can bet
I tried altering my train of thought,
But your promise was an echo,
Reverberating interminably.

And you can bet
I tried to hate your soul,
But I had seen it
Many a time
Through your sparkling eyes.

Wow, very moving.
One question though, This person cried for someone, but why?
Did they break up, did the other person die, move away, or is it one of those things that has no answers?
I really like your choice of words as well.
Very nice.

Russets and tangerine shades of old gold flushing the very outside edge of the senses ... deep shining ochres, burnt umber and parchments of baked earth—reflecting on itself and through itself, filtering the light.
