Daddy

PreviousNext

I tried so hard to catch you on your way out the door.

You have no clue how fast my little legs moved,

Teetering,

Tottering,

Tumbling down,

Down onto the floor where I waited for you to return and find me broken,

Bruised,

Bawling,

And calling out for you.

I tried so hard to reach you as soon as I could reach a phone.

You have no clue how many times I called,

Composed,

Combed the world,

To try to get one word with you.

But we both know why you never answered.

We both know that that one word would have turned into two,

Then into three,

Then into four,

And those words scared you.

They scared you so much that you did whatever you could do

To avoid hearing those four tiny,

Broken,

Bruised little words…

“Daddy, I love you.”

Hey! Tigerlilly here for a review!

I could most definitely relate to this poem! It had an excellent beginning, and it drew me in from the start. It had a powerful ending, which is also very important when writing. This is absolutely amazing, the way you capture this! I find it could be both figurative or literal, though I personally, (speaking from past experience), found a more figurative meaning.

I really love the way the poem looks. i love how it spirals with the various lengths of each line. The alliteration used was amazing, and I must say, You are an extravagant writer! Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing more of your work!

The flow of your poem was nice, punctuation was punctual, and well, I couldn't find any grammatical errors.

Hi, GSLeigh!

This poem was very emotional and moving. I loved it! I couldn't relate to it personally, but I could still feel/connect to the speaker's emotions through your writing.

I especially like the line "And those words scared you." because I think a lot of people are scared of words because they are scared of their own feelings/responsibilities/etc.

I think you used your words very well; it's not a very long poem, but each word really adds to it. The imagery of a broken, bruised, bawling child calling out for their father is quite poignant. Vivid word choice is very important in any kind of writing, but in poetry especially.

Great job!

Heyheyhey it's me, here to review.

Oh my gosh, I need some tissues man, this was so emotional (yes I'm a weird person). It was something I could relate to in real life but I loved how it just grabs you at the first start of the poem and reels you in.

I love how you didn't just go 'I fell and cried' and more as you used description in your poem to make us visualize that event you want us to think about. Also the ending, in my uttermost opinion, should at least have an impression on one's heart. Presumably the readers and the writers as well, it was very spot on!

To me the words made the scene more vivid and you're placed in a child's POV, how they felt and how they did the actions as they did. How the bond of a child and a father are truly great, or any parent at the very least.

No spelling or grammar errors here! Excellent job and I hope to see more works from you soon!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This poem is so related to my situation. I feel like these words, and the use of them, all completely detail what it's like. It's touching, it's descriptive, and it really helps you with putting yourself in that position, to try to understand what it feels like. And the ending just straight up breaks your heart. Greatly written and very emotional. Exceptional poem

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This poem is so amazing, that I'm almost at a loss for words~
The ending was perfect, and the lines are still lingering in my head!I feel empathy for the child the poem follows. The way you worded the poem to show the actions of a child, was also spectacular(I know, Googlebot pointed that out already, but I had to mention it!). The flow and rhythm kept the poem smooth, and kept me reading!
This is a very well written piece, you did an excellent job! :)

Thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!

Hi, Google bot here to review your beautiful poem!

I really like this. You have done a brilliant job in all the departments. First of all, the flow is outstanding. It gets you hooked from the word go and keeps you engaged till you finish the entire poem.

The meaning is heartwarming. Something every one can connect to. I like how you cleverly used alliteration device to engage readers and show the actions of child. The formatting used is again outstanding and so is the structuring.

I like everything in this poem. Everything! Can't critique much. Love the last paragraph

They scared you so much that you did whatever you could do

To avoid hearing those four tiny,

Broken,

Bruised little words…

“Daddy, I love you.”

One word, "BRILLIANT"! keep writing!

Thanks so much! I'm really glad that you liked it!

My spelling is wobbly. It's good spelling, but it wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.
