Another Episode of Sleep Paralysis

I had another episode of sleep paralysis last night, which makes it clear that my sleep schedule is completely fucked, and I have no idea how to fix it. I've been trying to get it back on track for what feels like an eternity. This time, I didn’t feel anyone creeping their hand on my feet, tapping my shoulder, or see a figure above my head like before. Somehow, this episode was more terrifying than all the previous ones combined.

I wake up to find myself in a bizarre situation... I'm leaning against a wall and unable to move. Was I sleepwalking? That has never happened before... wait... where the fuck am I? In front of me is an extremely filthy bathroom. The original tile colors have faded, replaced by shades of dirty yellow and brown. Somehow, I recognize this place; it's my dormitory bathroom. But it didn’t look like this before. The dorm bathrooms certainly weren’t the cleanest, but this seems far more extreme, almost like it’s from an evil parallel universe.

Before I have time to process any more information about this place or form another opinion, I notice small dots on the floor. There are a number of them, and they are moving almost like insects. I close my eyes, terrified of what they might be. When I reopen them, hoping this is all just a dream, I notice the swarm of "insects" has gotten even bigger... and they are starting to notice my presence. They slowly begin making their way toward me. I close my eyes one more time in a last desperate attempt, then I open them again. The creatures are everywhere—on the floor, on the walls, on the ceiling, on my body. And almost every last one of them is moving toward me, crawling onto my feet, my stomach, my privates, and my face.

Then the scene starts to change. As the new scene slowly takes form, I notice the familiar signs of decay... I'm still in the same universe, apparently. My sense of smell doesn’t work, but I don’t need it to; I can feel the rotten stench of this place creeping up on me even without my sense of smell. "Arvin, you good?" I hear a distant voice, and as the voice becomes clearer, the scene becomes blurry. So it was a dream after all. I allow myself to detach from this godforsaken place.

My roommate is trying to wake me up. I snap out of the episode, and that’s the end of it. The thing that terrifies me the most about this experience isn’t the insects or the evil parallel universe. It’s the fact that my sense of space and time was completely shifted, and I honestly felt like I was physically standing on my own two feet, despite the reality of lying in my bed. I have no idea how that works.

Im sorry you had to go through that. The most I would say for you to do is try and start going to bed at a reasonable time. Most of the time sleep demons are caused by stress and ongoing events that have a fear factor towards them. If your dream is like that I would say you fear death or you are being severely overwhelmed at the point in your life, trying to come down a bit and breathe. Also, if this ends up happening again, I look for a door and walk in or out of that door and picture a room with nothing inside and it will help you come back to your senses.

Hello there, human! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today!

Shalt we commence with the shocking S’more?

Top Graham Cracker - Arvin has a serious case of sleep paralysis, in which he is an absolutely disgusting bathroom that is teeming with bugs. He wakes up, safe and sound, but can’t shake off the horror within him.

Slightly Burnt Marshmallow - I personally don’t have any suggestions to make, but if you want to expand on the horror of sleep paralysis, then go for it!

Chocolate Bar - I like how you described how real it felt. Arvin is paralyzed in his sleep, and it’s not like a nightmare in the sense that a nightmare feels more like a dream, it’s actually harmful and can really disturb someone. The flies all coming in really creeped me out, fantastic job!

Closing Graham Cracker - A story on being careful when one sleeps, and that taking care of oneself is important for not only physical health reasons, but mental and emotional, too. All health is important, and in the midst of this horror, I think that this story reflects that.

I wish you a marvelous day/night! ^v^

Howdy! I'm Jazz and I'm here to review your story!

I Like Banana's Because They Have No Bones - First impressions

This certainly sent a chill up my spine, haha! I am kind of curious about experiences like these because I don't experience them myself, nor do I remember them with this much detail.

Dead Puppies Aren't Much Fun - Suggestions I have

The first thing I would do is make sure to check the language box and at least the 16+! This contains cursing and not everyone is eager for a surprise that a writer is cursing in their story that is labeled "everyone".

You have a few places where you add unnecessary commas, and that is something I myself also have a tendency to do. It's best to only use them when a FANBOY comes after it. Some examples:

I had another episode of sleep paralysis last night, which makes it clear that my sleep schedule is completely fucked, and I have no idea how to fix it.

The comma in between "night" and "which" can be removed because "which" is not a FANBOY and it awkwardly interrupts the sentence.

The original tile colors have faded, replaced by shades of dirty yellow and brown.

To appease the comma, you could add an "and were".

The Ravings of John McCullough - Things I loved

You really added suspense in the beginning, which had me on the edge of my seat!

They're Coming To Take Me Away Ha-Haaa! - Finale

This wasn't a bad story! I'd like to read more of your experiences if you choose to publish more!

Jazz, rolling out!

You can do it, serpent king!
