i have licked my wounds
and carried my scars
with the same hands that made them
excuse me for
not chasing grievances sold to me
i have dragged the boulders of my trauma
across the barren wastelands of modern society
excuse me for finding peace
wherever my head may lay
i have won wars no one has seen
and lost battles every eye has watched
i will not let you name my pacifism as indifference
i have heard the poor been called insane
and yet the rich are labelled eccentric
i know better than to seek judgements
from those who wish to divide
i have watched the worship of fool’s gold and false gods
pardon my lack in faith in those who no nothing of the word
i will not be a slave to a power that has no basis in peace
i will not succumb to life as anything less than a masterpiece
hear my word because it is true
their time will come to them,
but so will yours to you.

Yes,when we are below people,we get labeled as the “crazy” or “weird” ones.At least, that’s what I think part of the poem is about.I also believe it is about someone who has dealt with hardships and is now free to live life peacefully.Maybe it’s someone who doesn’t want to fight anymore.Either way,it was a lovely read.I hope you have an amazing and awesome day and night.
Hey there, Rebel here with a short review! :p
This is a masterfully written poem with an interesting name and powerful lines. This poem reminds me of "It's Alright Ma {I'm Only Bleeding)" by Bob Dylan, another powerful poem (it is actually a song, considered by many as his lyrical masterpiece, you can check it out if you don't know it :p) written in a similar fashion with a similar tone. Although, I have a little doubt with the line "pardon my lack in faith in those who no nothing of the word". Either the word "no" should be "know" (even if it is, it's okay :p) or it has some other deeper meaning which I do not quite grasp. My favourite line of this poem is "i will not succumb to life as anything less than a masterpiece". It was an amazing read. :p
Hello! Okay, I'll say straight away that poetry is not my forte and so I may be missing the glaring obvious, but I shall try to review!
I really like the opening, very vivid imagery.
The first ten lines had me thinking that this was about battling depression, which I thought was really cleverly done, but then the scope of the poem started to expand and I got a little lost.
'no nothing of the word' - know
Despite me kinda losing the idea of the poem, I still think it's well written and I liked the ending. Someone else can probably write a more helpful review but I have tried haha.
Happy writing!
Loved this. Really great work, keep it up!
