Prologue part 1 of 3

Peace

July 7, 1947 19:34

Sol system....

“Rift, will you hurry up already I’m tired of standing here. You know your father is expecting you to be at the meeting already now come on.” said a young blued teenage boy as he leaned against the door to the cabin.

He appeared to be in combat armor from head to toe obviously ignoring the fact that this was supposed to be a friendly meeting between enemies and rivals. It was a deep red with random blotches of black which seemed to maintain a type of symmetry, within his right hand he held a staff that was roughly seven feet tall and in his left he held his helmet, which was simply jet black with sharp edges all around it, I’d seen him use it often in training exercises and in actual combat. He’d headbutt his opponent when angry or when he was actually desperate.

“Oh, Ezekiel... how I long for the day that your patience finally sets in... I was just sitting here hoping that my words wouldn’t fall on deaf ears tonight now that our foes are finally here... if father would have gave me more time out there with them, talking and discussing this war it would long be over by now... “ a smirk crept upon my face, but in reality I was thinking of the depression this war was bringing onto me, I longed for peace... and maybe I would finally have it today...

“I know how much this war and disturbing you and I know how much you hate going into battle with them, I don’t like it either, but we do what we must in the name of our people. Even if this is a war over land, profit, and power. If we stop fighting now our people would be in risk of danger.” Ezekiel said as he pushed off from the door and walked over to the window glancing outside of it looking towards the still planet known as earth.

Quickly I tied the last strap to my lightly armor I had decided to put on and stood up walking over to him, stopping as I got beside him, “Isn’t she beautiful... her people... they’re much like us the only difference is time... we’ve seen so much yet we’ve seem to fall just as much you know? War after war... one of these days I hope every planet and race can come to a understanding and peace will come to us all...”

A smile creeped upon Ezekiel’s face as he lifted his left hand up placing it onto my shoulder, “ Brother, you do have a way with words, maybe you're right,” he said as he looked towards me, “If we did allow you to have more time with both our people and theirs maybe this war would be over by now.”

“One could hope, one could hope.” looking down one last time towards the planet I turned from it and started towards the door, before looking back to a starry eyed Ezekiel who was probably remembering his homeworld of Alagthoray, a peaceful farming planet that was bombarded by the Amongst pirates. I felt a sadness come across my face, but I attempted to hide it.

“Come on already, Ezekiel. You wouldn’t want to keep the Emperor waiting would you, my father?” I smiled once more in his direction before departing from my cabin, the sounds of him moving in his armor began to chin in gently as he quickly moved in behind me, as I exited the cabin two more men followed after him. They were my royal guards as well as members of the royal squadron in which I commanded. The rest of the squad were more than likely in the hanger ready and waiting in case anything went wrong.

At this point it had become blatantly aware to me that none of the royal squadron wore anything they were expected to, each was decked out in his own custom armor. As Well as their own weaponry.

I couldn’t really blame them though, more than likely the other seven groups would also be carrying their own weapons and armor. Their duty was to protect and guard me and that’s what they planned on doing.

I slowed down somewhat as we reached the hallway that would lead to the council rooms that would be the meeting place of the seven races. Four main races and three factioness groups.

As I slowed Ezekiel came beside me, “There is nothing to worry about no one has their weapons aimed towards anyone and that includes Earth, plus they’re all offline. Even if someone did decide to try and take the chance of attacking each other their weaponry would be offline giving us enough time to disable them with our squadrons and nothing would stop. The peace talks would go on until this war is over.”

“True, but the Blentilist are still not here even though they promised they would arrive days ago. I’m worried that they don’t want peace just yet, and I know for a fact my father doesn’t he’s just doing this to calm mother down somewhat and get me off of his back. You know the councils only care for power at this point.” my pain was now a deep red of anger, but it quickly faded as I looked outside glancing towards the ships each of them capital class more than likely filled to the brim with soldier, weapons, and smaller ships that they could pump out to buy time incase talks went south.

“We have fifteen wide ranged scanners running around the clock if anything unexpected was coming at us we’d be the first to know of it and we’d also be able to warn and prep the other factions in time so that they would trust us and be ready to fight with us, stay calm and bring us peace, Rift.” Ezekiel glanced over towards me with a reassuring smile before stopping in front of the council rooms door.

Gently I placed my hand against the door center looking it up and down. The doors began to glow green and motioned into a dark yellow as I slid my hand down it quickly, it blinked once before opening and I walked past Ezekiel and the other two guards who stood at the doorway watching me to make sure nothing unexpected happened. Moving past some of the guards of other groups I attempted to be slow and assuring in my moves flashing a slight smiles towards each of the groups before I was finally able to make it to my seat. Looking towards Ezekiel once more he gave me a slight nod before putting his helmet back on and stood at attention hand still firmly placed upon his staff.

Father glanced over towards me once the disappointment in his eyes seeming so obvious, “My apologies my son is still, but a child. I hope you can forgive him for his absence, his stupidity and forth right foolishness it’s fully shown in having made you wait so long.”

My jawed seemed to tighten somewhat, but I bit my tongue knowing I had to make my father feel as though he had full jurisdiction over not just his people, but for me as well.

“I don’t think he was acting foolish or stupid at all, he has as much say as any man for your people as you do, and you should respect that he is taking the time to think over what he is to say to us. Maybe you should do the same Gerald.” Abirthron spoke out towards him very calmly.

Abirthron was one of the last of his kind having his people targeted for years on end, they have been know as the strongest hand to hand combat tacticians in the known universe and that’s exactly why they were hunted and destroyed for so long. While in space you’re unable to use standard guns because the risk of puncturing a wound in the ship is too great. Many tried to hire his people for combat, but they always rejected saying it was unhonorable to fight others wars. Roughly fifty years ago their homeworld was hit by Elphistian’s, my people and within hours the planet was destroyed. With the attack so random they weren’t ready for it and even if they were ready for it they didn’t have enough power to fend of such an unwarranted battle. My father still claims it as one of his greatest victories but reality it was simply a slaughter of innocents.

Abirthron inherited his peoples Capital ships after his father died in combat a not long ago and now here he is with basically the last of his people in hopes that he can gain a new planet gifted from one of the other six.

“Well then, boy. Maybe I should go ahead and finish your undisciplined kind once and for all,” my father shouted down towards Abirthron with anger in his eyes. His knuckles were white as they clawed into the podem in which he stood in front of.

“Come now Emperor, today is a day of peace. No one supposed to be filled with threats. Shall I began?” A young female voice spoke up from the group.

She didn’t really have a name. She was apart of the Silentrust nothing was really known about their race other than the fact that they had some of the biggest and strongest ships known to man and when they decided to refuse to lend aid to my father’s wars he declared war on them. Within hours, the war began and within days the bombings of their outworlds started. When their people finally regrouped and began to push towards our planets, he requested that peace talks be held, their honor and trusting behavior betrayed them and they agreed to the talks. It was a day much like today, but when they slipped out of space in the meeting area, they were surrounded and outnumbered twenty to one. Many of their leaders and “heroes” died within minutes and those that jumped out during the final moments of the battle, have been chased down like animals ever since.

“Fine then, you are the one that the Silentrust have deemed worthy to talk on their behalf. I suppose you have as much to talk about as any of us here.” Smirking somewhat, my father finally sat down in his chair having a slight slouch, making it obvious he could care less about the talks.

Nodding slightly, she stood up from her chair and looked around the room pausing as our gazes meet momentarily before she began to scan the room once more, “This silent war has went on for too long. I want to be the first to request that we all call upon peace and sign treaties to do away with our arms and I would also like to request that Emperor Gerald... stop chasing down the last of our people who are still bonded with owners. Also, I am happy to say that we’d be more than happy to allow Abirthron and his people onto one of our planets and possibly make it a permanent residents. With this being said I’ll hand the floor over to whoever wishes to take it.”

Abirthon, who was now stunned beyond belief, quickly stood up and bowed towards her, “Thank you. Your people are far too kind... I don’t know how we would ever be able to repay you.”

A slight smile came across her face as she bowed back towards him and many people of the group began to clap and shout some amounts of enjoyment before finally my father chimed in, “Now wait just a minute, you just ordered me to stop hunting down those who defy me and my people. People who break my laws, laws that I have put down for the safety of everyone?” he began to stand up along with Abirthon and the young female.

Without hesitation I followed suit, not about to give up the peace that we’d just talked about, “Hold on Father, they haven’t ordered anything. They simply requested that you stop hunting their people down, and to add on with that, I agree with her. Enough is enough, not just for the Silentrust, but for all of the people here. Our wars with them need to end and we need a time of peace.” I glanced towards the female and stared into her eyes momentarily before looking towards Abirthon and nodding.

Gritting his teeth somewhat, he began to raise his hand pointing it in my direction, “Listen here, you br-.”

“Sir, we have an emergency! Our radars are going crazy, something’s jumping towards us and it will be here in minutes!” someone located on the bridge interrupted him.

Immediately everyone else jumped up from their seats and began to look around panicking, trying to contact their Capital ships.

Raising my hands, I tried to assure them, “Everyone calm down, everything is going to be fine.”

Quickly, I walked over towards a button alongside the wall as Ezekiel walked over towards me, “We need to evacuate from here and get deeper into the ship now.”

“I know. I’m just going to go ahead and throw out some commands. Get them ready to move out of here now.” I said as I looked towards him briefly as he motioned towards the other two giving a silent order to rally the people and get ready to move.

Pressing a light blue button that led to the bridge, I leaned forward whispering in orders,” This is not a drill, I need the shield and guns at the ready asap. Whatever is about to land, you make sure it’s not hostile and if it is you take it down, priority one is defending our guests and their ships. Do you understand me?”

With that being said, I leaned from the wall and turned back towards the group of people, “Ok everyone, we need to vacate this room immediately and reach a safe location. I’m going to need you to stay calm and follow behind me and my guard unit, o-.”

“They’re here in three, two, o-”

And just like that, at least fifteen dreadnought ships slipped right in front of our ship and had the other 5 capitals ships surrounded. My jaw seemed to drop slightly, but I shook my head and tried to regain my composure as the battle began. The space around us let up with flashes of lights and bursts of colors entering the space around us, as the unknown ships opened fire on the Capital ships, ripping their outer layers to shreds as their shields and weapons attempted to come online. In a valiant attempt, some fighters flew out from many hangers aboard all of the ships and tried to meet the dreadnoughts in combat to buy time and draw some fire.

“Let’s get a move on people, we need to regroup and hit back already! MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!” Ezekiel screamed out towards the frightened group.

Quickly, they began to make their way towards the door and I finally turned from the scene, making my way out of the room and into the hallway. Ezekiel, Abirthon, my father, and the young female having kept a calm head, followed suit, but as we crossed into the hallway we heard a shriek and as we turned around we were blinded by a bright flash and a massive explosion that followed suit.

“Oh hell, they knew our weak spot!” Ezekiel screamed out as he grabbed a rail that was near the window of the hallway.

In that instant, we were all yanked off our feet and forced to follow Ezekiel's movements and grab the rail as we were jerked towards the gaping wound of the ship. The people who were still in the room were being sucked out into open space, one by one where they would suffocate.

“Dang it...” I mumbled to myself as I let of the rail and went flying head first towards the opening.

“RIFTON!” I heard Ezekiel call out towards me as I went flying towards my possible death, but last second I lunged out and hit the red button to the door, putting it in emergency shutdown mode, which also sent us all crashing towards the floor.

Panting slightly, I stood quickly though I felt a sharp pain in my arm, moving with some haste, I walked over to the young woman and helped her up. Receiving a nod of thanks back, I smiled slightly but my thoughts were disturbed by the sound of my father slamming Abirthon into the wall.

“THIS WAS YOUR DOING! THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO KNEW ABOUT THAT SPOT ARE STILL ALIVE, RIGHT HERE! Once this battle is over, I swear unto everything that is my empire, I will destroy that ship of yours and everyone on it, and I’ll kill that whore and all of your people once and for all as well!” he screamed into his face before letting him go and storming off down the hallway towards the bridge.

“Abirthon I’m so sor-.” He cut me off mid sentence.

“Don’t worry about it Rift... I’ve heard a lot worst,” a sad smirk entered his face as the ship shook slightly, taking a few more blows but no where near as bad as they were moments beforehand. Our shields must have finally been back online.

Nodding towards him, I glanced back towards the frightened Silentrust, “You two should either go find somewhere to hide or try and make it back to your people, there is no telling how this battle will go.”

Looking into my eyes for a moment, Abirthon nodded back and turned from us, “You’re different than your father... I wish you the best of luck.” Once he finished, he ran off down the hall with the Silentrust following after him.

For a moment Ezekial and I stood there silently thinking of what’s going on before finally, he broke the silence, “What now Rifton...?”

“That’s simple. We repel those who boarded us and then... and then we take the fight to them.” I said as my voice began to rise letting it be known that I was ready for the fight to come.

There was a major edit to Falling skies finally when I was bored one day. I'll post it over this one of these days.

Hello! I'm SecreteJournalist reviewing for 'Majestic Icicles' on this fine review day.

Happy Review Day, EziekelTheBold!

I'm just going to briefly review this, as I am getting ready to leave but would like to reach my goal of 6 reviews(:

I agree with LemisaLeaZeor, the beginning started kind of.... dull. It needed something that would instantly pull an reader in, and though it had some good description, it wasn't too exciting.

My other nitpick, is your repetition of the letter 'I'. It's in almost every paragraph, and gets a little tiring. Try using replacement words for 'I'. This way, it could flow a little bit better.

As for praise, I did like this story. Though dull at first, by the end I would of loved to read more! Great job on that! I'd love to read more of this.

Sincerely,

Review

I love the use of description and I can easily imagine everything you've said.

"As Well." No need to include a capital letter on well.

At the beginning it starts quite slow, but that's just me. I don't become entirely hooked into the story.
Anyway, I thought it was really good and i would recommend it to others to read, as its different and original.
Everything I've said is entirely on what I think and not what others would say.

I would love to read more and love to get the book! There isn't much wrong about this piece.

Good job, keep on writing. :D

Thanks for the review. If you want a more in depth conversation about things feel free to message me. :D

Good story.

Thanks, though it's only part 1 of 3 parts to the prologue :P I'm going to post more if people appear to like it.
