For this, there are no words

There is a whisper on the wind, and
a thousand dancing fairies touch the sky.
For every breathe there is color, and
for every color there is life.

In the midst of the clearing in the wood,
there is music playing in the air—
a tap-dance of iris petals and satin leaves;
a ballad between the ripples on the pond, and
the silence of the grasses.

The song is not like thunder, not like rain—in that,
it does not beat to the rhythm of the earth,
does not pulse to the mechanical whirr of a motion.
And the lyrics are clear but enmeshed with the nature of things;
hesitant and halting, present and faltering.
And the notes follow a path of its own,
a sonnet of its making.

It is a poem in the way the current speaks,
the way the leaves rustle here and there,
the way the land moves.
It is a poem with every line a new beginning,
but for this poem, there are no words.

Thanks to both of you! Actually, maybe your from the UK because in the US it's spelled without the U.

"Mechanics of a motion" doesn't sit well with me. Maybe "the mechanics of emotion?" Anyway, great poem!

I loved this. :) :D :) :D
Really great, my favourite Stanza was 4. Really well written.
It is really true what you say: Poems don't have to be a boring thing to read.
I mean, my sister took poems and made songs out of them, lyrics, the works. :wink:
Really loved this. :D
The imagery was great. Could really see where I was.
There was only one thing in Stanza one. Color = Colour. You spelled it wrong. I dont know if you meant it to be like that, but the rest of the poem was written so well.
Keep up the good work. :)

I dunno. I think I was trying to say that there is a song in this bit of nature that is unique and cannot be put into words. Due to it's...beautiful...ness. Lol. I dunno. I've been trying to write more earth-based things. Thanks for taking a peek, Clau!

S3 was my favorite. That stanza was superb, I loved it. The others? I'm not so sure. I'm trying to understand your full meaning, and I'm not getting it.

After a second read, I like all the stanzas. Beautiful imagery, with flowers and lightening: I see things springing out of the air. But I'm still grasping for the central meaning and falling short--would you mind helping me? ^_~

I slightly have to say, though, I liked your poem about "She calls me beautiful" - or what was it? - better. This nature stuff, it just isn't me. But you had amazing imagery.

I have lived through much, and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness. A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good... then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbor - such is my idea of happiness.
