Hi ElfBoy,
Here's Saad with a quick review. Short rant here, but please stay with me -- I used to be the biggest science fiction fan on the planet. Then, I began reading non-fiction and classics, eventually leading to me, somebody who rarely reads science fiction these days.
<b> But not anymore, thanks to you. <b>
So, without further ado, I'd like to jump in the prologue.
I really appreciate how you have set up the premise and setting right from the start. We meet Verias, a General from an Earth almost sunken below sea level. I love his character a lot. A cynical pacifist sent to colonize an entire planet can't end in disaster.... right?
I really like how Genesis uncannily is a mirror image of the Earth, six continents, seas and all. I think the small hints at worldbuilding and time really build the environment (although, to be honest, there's some work needed to make it more immersive. I would say that stronger and more evocative verbs and adjectives could help.) I also assume this world is about three to four hundred years in the future (give or take about hundred years)?
I personally found a few improvements here and there.
While this is of course from the perspective of the General, I would like the explorers to interact. As this story doesn't have a micro-concept, but a macro-concept (essentially a premise that revolves around quite a lot of people and affects many people), I would like a little bit more character introduction here.
Thanks for getting me back into science fiction, and I'm going to read this novel to its end!
Cheers
Saad
