Darling little flower girl
You’ve blossomed at your prime
A gorgeous radiant flora
Sweet little flower girl of mine
~
Do remember pretty flower girl
Your colors will fade their chrome
After all only the loveliest of flowers
Get plucked and taken home
~
Now precious little flower girl
Your vase is made of glass
You see the way but can't get out
I wonder how long you'll last
~
Dear withering flower girl
Now your prime has left
Because you did not break the glass
You must now forever rest

This poem is now one of my favorite poems. It has a feel to it. It made me sad and happy at the same time. The poem really reminded me that life has an end, and you should live your life to the fullest because one day, you will shrivel up and die. Just like a flower. To me, this poem is like a lullaby. It calms me down, and makes me think about the words. Keep writing, I really love this poem!:)
That's so sweet that this means so much to you. I'm happy that it helps you relax. I really am truly honored that this has become a favorite for you and i'm glad you enjoyed what I guess could be a cautionary tale. Have a lovely day!
I love this, actually. It reminds me of a girl I used to know, and it really pulled on my heart. The words are beautiful. That's the only one I could say it. It flowed very nicely, and it seems that most people mess up on that. The rhymes didn't seem forced, either, ans that's another thing people commonly mess up on. I also love the metaphors and such. Amazing job!
Hello and thank you for the review. I'm glad to know I did the flow of rhyme right, I was a bit worried about it. That's so interesting (and possibly sad) that you could relate this to your personal life, I just hoped this girl you mentioned didn't "forever rest". Again thank you for review and hope you have an amazing day.
This is great, very well written and beautiful use of metaphor.
Thank you!
I have recently written a prom sort of like this, well more like on the same type of topic... ish... but going onto the review. The poem was deep and meaningful. I felt myself imagine what it would be like to be the flower innocent abd lovely and slowly withering. And the ending is very deep because at the end of one’s life they do not play but rest and close their eyes one last time, because they didn’t break free of the cycle but instead welcomed it. (Im going on a rant here but going back on topic) The flower is kind of like the life of a human and how as they get older they get wrinkles which could be like the flower withering (now I feel like im writing an essay oh well). Thank you for writing such a wonderful poem!
~Cheers
Hi! Thanks so much for reviewing and I'd love to read the poem you talked about if you ever post it. Getting a different perspective on this concept is really cool. I'm glad you were able to feel the emotions so clearly, the fact that my words can make people feel still astounds me. Btw I like your "essay" lol. You get an A in my book
Thanks!! Keep writing and being awsome!
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. My favorite line is probably the first verse:
Darling little flower girl
You’ve blossomed at your prime
A gorgeous radiant flora
Sweet little flower girl of mine
It's well written, and the prose is great! It's sweet, but has meaning. The part where you say she is stuck in her vase of glass is very interesting. It could be translated as she sees an escape from an abusive relationship but she won't get out because she feels responsible and she could die soon. Maybe that is the "forever rest" part. I do see the part where you write that the prettiest ones get plucked first and taken home, as a marriage like in Africa where they don't have a choice who they want to marry and they just get kidnapped and can't escape. And maybe the flower girl is getting older, she has reached where she has developed a womanly figure but at the end she has gotten older and so abused that she is withering. This poem is very touching and people could relate in real life. I think you should consider publishing a book of poems like these.
Howdy and thank you for reviewing my work! I have to admit that the first is my favorite too because that was the verse that just popped into my head and snow balled into this poem. I'm also extremely honored that you think it deserves to be in a book, it's quite the compliment. Thank you again!
Hiya! Space here for a review!
I really enjoyed this poem, it was very sweet and flowed very smoothly. I liked the concept--a young girl, pretty and innocent as a flower, but then the flower began to fade and fray as time went on. It's a very bittersweet topic, expressed well by the metaphor of flowers and vases.
The only flaw I saw was the line "do remember pretty flower girl". It was a bit confusing because I couldn't tell if you were convincing the audience to remember this girl, or if you had just forgotten the "you", and that would mean you were ASKING if the audience if they remembered her. That's really all!
I enjoyed this poem! You did a good job and I look forward to reading your future pieces!

Hello! First let me thank you for reviewing my poem. Second thing, allow me to answer your question. Basically that line was addressing the flower girl, it was just a cautionary warning for her that people pry on the pretty girls and that she should be careful. Hopefully that answers your question. Again, thank you for review and have a lovely day!
Thanks for sharing this poem about the loveliness of youth and how it can and will be tarnished with time. I also like the way it points out that beauty can be both a blessing and a bane. The pretty ones gain more attention and are plucked sooner. Very nice metaphor and very true indeed.
As a reader I felt sadness for the girl, for myself and for the whole human race that has to undergo such traumatic transformation. In short, the complimentary tone of the poem is used to remind us of our common mortality and that youth, although seemingly eternal when one is young, is simply a passing stage in life among many other stages.

Within this context, the vase seems to be a situation that the girl finds herself in which she can escape but doesn't. Perhaps she is scheduled for a forced marriage to an older man? Someone she doesn't really love? The vase might be traditions which imprison her. Marrying at a very early age under such a system can certainly mar a youthful female beauty and cause premature aging.

Hi, sorry it took so long to reply. Thank so much for the time you took to review my piece. I enjoy seeing everyone's interpretation on what the "vase in the poem is because it really is so interesting. Also thank you for the grammatical critiques, i'll get get on that ASAP!
