Pennies

They say you can hear it like the rain-
millions of tiny gold pennies, falling from grace
down into the drainpipes, rolling into the gutter,
enchanted by the music of the fat cats
and their pied piper.
I wonder.
Perhaps like human tissue replenishes the earth
those lost pennies will make us good again
make us grow and see the world
and all it’s true beauty
for what it’s worth?

Hi. I enjoyed this. It starts well, and the opening imagery works well. I especially liked;
"millions of tiny gold pennies, falling from grace
down into the drainpipes, rolling into the gutter,".

I think that;
" make us good again
make us grow and see the world
and all it’s true beauty
for what it’s worth?"

is a bit flimsy. It's too abstract. I'd think more about what the pennies could do, and show rather than tell. Try suggesting through imagery how the little things can bring people back to goodness/happiness/simplicity. Goodness is quite an abstract concept so I'd forget that word and show it instead.

Also "it's true beauty" should be "its true beauty".

Hope this helps.

Jas

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
