“So Chris looking a little girlie today no uniform hmm?” “knock it off matt.” “If you say so.” “So Chris… How about a date tonight to grandma’s pizzeria?” “um let me think…no.” “ohh a bit harsh don’t you think I mean it was just a offer.” he whistles. “matt let me um just tell you something I am busy taking care of my little sister right now and I don’t have time ok. Besides you are not the type of guy I am interested in, sorry” I started walking away “ come on just give me a chance and How bout if you bring her with you?” I was getting irritated I looked at Char for some support and looked at her with a upset look she nods her head maybe its worth a shot after all I am 19 never had a date so who knows maybe I am wrong about him. ”fine tonight then.” I sigh and as I walked away I didn’t realize my real crush my 21 year old teacher in bible study at my church was paying attention and he walked over to Char.

“ Char let me ask you a question why did you nod your head when Christina looked your way hmm?” “ cause she is 19 and she needs a boyfriend already so I tried to encourage her to say yes, and to give him a try.” “ You know nothing about that guy do you? That guy doesn’t deserve a girl like Christina she is to pure for that guy and she is going to learn that the hard way.” “ yikes sorry to push your button I think he will be perfect for her.” She tosses her hair I shake my head in disappointment  “ So what you are saying.” “never mind okay.” “fine thanks for your support of Christina’s happiness.” “No problem Jeremiah.”  after teaching bible school I went home into the living room and dropped my bag on the ground “Dad you home, if so can we talk please?” “ Sure son be right there.” My dad walks into the living room my dad is the pastor at the same church I teach bible school.” what’s up take a seat talk.” I sat down.“ If you know someone is going to get hurt and their friends don’t care and actually convince that person to do what they don’t know will end up hurting them how can you help them before its to late?” “ would this person we would be talking about a girl?” I get a little tense “maybe.” I say reluctantly, my dad smiled “she is going out with matt tonight and” “let me guess this guy is tricking her into thinking he is pure nice and dating only 1 girl instead.” “he isn’t.” “Pray for her. If she truly dose not know then,,, I just hope she finds out before its to late.”

My  radio cracked to life I picked it up and turned it up “ 911 alert two unknown people have intruded into a building on West Avenue Court 1518 19821 and set fire all units are being called.” “wait that’s the.. Oh no dad I will be back.” I knew that’s where Christina office was I knew she would b there after school  I hope she isn‘t though. “I will pray for everyone see you soon.”  I ran to my car I hoped I was 100 percent wrong or even 50 percent  When I got to the site  I asked who was in their and all the replies was Sergeant. C. Calling I know besides the ranking 3 that was her first letter of her name. I saw Matt was there I overheard his conversation on the phone even though I did not want to hear it “ Hey baby it will be alright I am nowhere near the fire I will be right there ok I just need to cancel with a friend for dinner ok no I am not dating another girl I promise hey baby I will be home tonight ok I promise see you soon bye.” he got off the phone and I rolled my eyes trying not to say anything to him “ hey Jacob.” he called me  “ names Jeremiah.” yea whatever leave my girl alone ok I don’t need you twisting her mind bout anything.” “I wouldn’t touch her or her brain .” I headed in the building on a mission. I got hit bye a few  burning timber pieces and a rock but I pressed on despite the heat and the lack of oxygen. I heard her coughing way before I saw her I finally  found her and carried her out of the fire.

When I made it out of the fire. And I gently put her on the stretcher of the ambulance. I was about to get in the ambulance but got knocked over. ”hey Jacob thanks for saving my girl.” he attacked me by surprise he started to get in the ambulance right before they closed the door but I quickly told them in French “Don’t let him in.” he got thrown out. I needed to help her so I got in the ambulance as bruised and battered as I was from the fire and being thrown around by Matt like a rag doll. The door closed and the ambulance speeded off. ”Dr. Patrick which hospital?” the nurse asked me “ Speaking Heart.”

I woke up in a hospital room ow my head hurt where I hit the ground when the bookcase came crashing down behind me in the fire I don’t remember the rest OMG Lizzy I dozed back into sleep very quickly. I woke up again seeing nurses in the room changing my iv bag they saw me awake “Dr. .Patrick will be in soon.” she said I remember that name where from as soon as I gave up trying to figure out where he walked in ah now I know my teacher I thought grimly. “hi.” he said softly as he checked my iv bag and pump then I could see Matt from the glass doors he walked in “hey.” he seemed to be ruff and rude with Jeremiah but I didn’t say anything. Jeremiah walked out and Matt sat down on the bed. “So good thing I was there to save you or you would have been toast.” “well you do smell like toast.” he sneered

I ignored him this didn‘t feel right. ”So when do you want to reschedule our date?” I knew this was wrong now. “ Go out.” I said harshly  ”hey sweetie what’s wrong I was just talking.” I didn’t have the energy to say any long sentences “I said get out.” Jeremiah came back in “She said get out.” Matt left like a lost dog. How could I have let myself be played like this. Jeremiah walked back over “you didn’t know” “I should off I have known him my whole life.”

Knock knock I opened the door I saw char “ Where is she!” “Lizzy come there was a fire” I got in char’s car and I saw we were headed to the hospital no I thought. When we got to her room I saw she had a bruise on her head and she looked like a burned tortilla chip or even worse burned toast. Some guy walked out when we came in probably the doctor cause he had a white coat on. “Char can I talk to you please.” I went to my sister’s bed and touched her hand it was hot from the burns I feel sad I almost started crying then I remembered that would just make it worse, so I didn’t I couldn’t.

“Char remember yesterday and what you said about Matt?”  “yep.”  “ what do you see in this lab report and these pictures taken by the security camera?” she took it from my hands “the tests and pictures say Matthew Roberts and two unknown people started the fire so?” I tilted my head “ ohh I see, yep I was wrong he isn‘t her type.” I could not believe her. “ he started the fire to make himself seem like a hero to her. does that seem right?” “ no.” “remember that next time you suggest a boyfriend to her ok.” “ok.” she walked into the room  to join Lizzy and Christina I knew I was getting to far in this but I felt it was my place. “Son.” I turned around to see my dad “yea.” “so this is the girl you were talking about huh.” “ I see why.” “Dad!” “just saying so tell me what now?” “I don’t know I am still trying to figure that out.” Char and Lizzy said bye to Chris and left. “Hey Son.” mom right I turned around again yep “So is that the girl you rescued in this room.” I looked at dad. ”hey I had to tell her she was in here and your mom is a nurse after all and my wife.” he smiled big time I sighed. “yep mom that’s her.” “ok she is my patient tonight.” moms I thought and smiled “ if anything happens call me no one else goes in there got it.” “yes sir.” mom saluted mockingly and smiled big time to bigger than dad. I saw Christina was back asleep and it was sift change coming up I had to get home.

“And the Lord said let my people go.” my phone rang hmm interesting quote today I answered it “hello?” “ Jeremiah something happened Chris’s window was broken when I came in someone got in and she isn’t responding I don’t know what’s going on, but they called the police.” “Mom I am coming be right there.” I rushed to get dressed it was 12:30 am I went to my dad’s room and told him what was going on. Then I rushed down to the hospital to see what happened. When I got to her room there were agents and police officers were outside her room waiting I rushed in to see what happened I knew right away. She was hit bye the shocker gun the shocker gun was a new invention she protested use of it to Congress. the gun put you in a deep sleep where you can only be waken up by the one and only drug Christina is allergic to. Sigh my mom was wringing her hands. “ Mom you know what a shocker gun is?” at this the agents looked at me with a frown “ yes sun I this all it is?” “well the 1 and only drug able to bring her out is the one and only she is allergic to. So.” “oh what now then?” “ I don’t know let me think” “Agent. Andrew can I talk to you please. “yes sir.” he steeped in. ”what was you and Chris’s assignment last night if I may ask. ”We caught the Condraus sisters trying to steal the Golden Saxophone sir.” sighs. ”ok thank you. Hamilton” “Your welcome sir.” he stepped out Dad steps in “So don’t know what to do huh” “She was such a target here I was stupid.” I step out to talk to the agents and officers “before we do anything I am moving her to the Military Hospital in Denver move out.” I made sure to tell Agent. Andrew to pick up Lizzy and bring her with us.. We would meet her later as far as I knew We got her up on the helicopter pad on the roof and a army helicopter picked us up and dropped us of at Healing Hand Military Hospital in Denver. The next morning I paced back and forth praying and wondering what to do. Should I risk her having a allergic reaction wait a minute… I am a dummy head I laugh my parents look up.” I could counter the effect with the ant-allergic reaction medication I am a dummy head why did I come here?” “ok then. I could of thought of that son”my mom says stupidly and ashamed I am a nurse after all. “there must be a reason you forgot I mean maybe there is a reason you picked out of all the military hospitals this one.” dad said “I don’t know. I will find out though” Lizzy and agent. Andrew walked in “hey Lizzy. Thanks for bringing her here.” “no problem sir anytime.”

Andrew left. “wait a minute is this the hospital my mom is in. is this the helping hand hospital?” she says quickly We all look at her. “maybe that’s the reason why.” my dad said “what room is Chris in?” Lizzy asked. “245 Lizzy” I said slowly wondering what’s going on. ”OMG” Lizzy runs out of the room I follow her. “Lizzy.“ Lizzy went down the hall and looked at the nametag on the door on room 249. She walks in I rush to follow her “Mom!” my heart is beating 3 times the normal speed. I went in there is a lady awake watching television she turned and saw Lizzy and me. “Lizzy! What are you doing here?” “Chris is in here.” “wait what?” “Hi sorry for the intrusion I was following Lizzy  she kind of ran when she found out what hospital she was in. I turned around looked out and saw my dad motioned him over ”Stay with Lizzy I need to help Christina.” “wait Christina my daughter? She is in here?” “yes. I will be back” I went down the hall thinking about what was going on does Christina know her mom is Alice McGuire the leader of the bomb Squad?

I walk to Christina’s room and put the medicine to work. She wakes up crying. ”Its ok shh.” I waited till the shocker drug was out of her system. Lizzy ran in ”Oh Good are you awake?” I look at Lizzy like she is crazy ”yes Liz I am awake.” “guess who I found” “who?” She asks tiredly and annoyed “your birth mom.” “oh Lordy” She says I laugh “what’s wrong Christina?” her ears kind of moved forward when I said her name “nothing. Nothing at all.” “wait you never met her before have you sis?” “I am not sure I want to I have a different family now.” “Who?” “forget it Liz.” “ok be back bye.”

A week later I convinced them to release me out o the hospital. During that time I felt different I don’t know why was it because of Jeremiah or was it the fact my birth mother was 4 doors down from me during the time. I feel like visiting Jeremiah but don’t want to push it he only saved me cause he was a doctor or something. Now if he calls me then I will be overjoyed if it’s a reason I like. I missed my boys Caspian and Rex on the very day I got home I lunged Caspian in the training pen and took Rex for a walk. After I got back in I heard the doorbell ringing “I was wondering How long it would take you, its annoying.“ it was a musical doorbell that lasted 1 minute long.

I opened the door and say Jeremiah out side “Sorry I was out back.” “oh its fine I only rang once.” I looked at Lizzy “ok then good.” she shrunk in her seat.” Come on in.” Rex started barking at Jeremiah” hush” I said in French Rex stopped and walked to his bed.

“Sorry he is still a police dog.” “A noisy one at that.” Lizzy said Jeremiah laughed. “So what’s up can I get you anything For you any thing to drink ?” “Oh Lord I am going to visit Big Diva out back.” we both laughed right after she left I shook my head “ No thanks I wanted to come by to se how you were doing how that bump is doing especially.” “Fine thanks.” I looked down my heart was beating like I was looking over a waterfall. “ Take a seat.” I said “if you insist.” he smiled “I do.” I replied. He sat down I got him some water even though he didn’t ask. There was some scratching at the front door we both looked puzzled I went and looked the rushed to open the door “meow” there was a stray tabby kitten at the door “what are you doing here?” I picked her up and saw a noisy van puling out of the driveway and left. ”Did they just drop it off?” “Yes that’s how I got Big Diva someone left her tied up to the porch with a note saying we know you are a animal lover please take her. Of coarse I checked to see if she was stolen but no she wasn’t.” “What’s that around her collar?” I closed the door and went over to the counter while Jeremiah got up and unraveled the paper from the kittens collar while I held her paws so she wouldn’t scratch him. He got it out “It says, thanks for taking care of the horse we have to many cats please take this one or find it a loving home.” he looked amazed but didn’t say anything. “So those were the same people. Ok well I don’t have a cat yet and as long as Rex doesn’t try to eat you maybe.” I smiled “ Just wondering how many cats is to many and if there are the same people which this note says they are why do they have so many animals and where did they get them from and how do they know you are a animal lover?” “no clue.”
