A million miles away

A Million Miles Away

Fly away a million miles
run and play the day away
walk your path
with one step past to
the point of no delay
walk away a million miles
start your day a mile away
pause the path
don't walk too fast
for there are bumps
along the way
run away a million miles
skip and jump and laugh away
enjoy the good in the day
leave the bad for the old born ways
Dream away a million miles
dream a dream and stay awhile
walk, run, or fly the mile
whatever you do
please stay awhile
till the next day brings you
home to stay
till some other day
a million miles away
Authors note: okay here is one of my attempts at a poem. I am not a poet and I never have been. This was for fun and I was just experimenting...I hope you like it. I can't wait to see what you think.

hey there
this is a very good poem , full of positivity and supporting , i think that the whole idea of it is interesting and catchy ,the title was very expressive and true.
i'll start by a question WHERE IS THE PUNCTUATION ?, i mean most of people have problems with punctuation (i'm one of them) but NO punctuation is wrong, it's so important thing in poetry , so make sure you punctuate it. another thing is that imagery , as iggy said it's quite important thing in poetry , i always make sure to mention it in my reviews , it add a richness to the poem and make it attractive .
so in the end i have to say that you're GOOD at poetry so keep writing , can't wait to read more of your works :)

Thanks and sorry about the puncuation thing. I am new to poetry and I don't really know how to write or what goes in it. So sorry but like I said I am a novelist and not a poet so this was a challenge and it's hard not writing in complete sentences.

don't worry it's just punctuation not a big deal , it's not something hard to do ...but i liked the poem in general and you definitely should keep writing poems ;)

Hey Dreamer :) Shauzer here reviewing :)
I liked this poem, it fits with your name - sounds like a dream. There are a few problems though. I didn't like the way you only used capital letters twice. If you're going to use them, use them throughout. I think commas would've been helpful - but keeping in mind I'm not a poet, don't take my critique too seriously.

Walk your path
With one step past to
the point of no delay

I didn't understand this part. With one step past to the point of no delay... Still mulling it over, maybe it's the way it's worded, i don't know. It just doesn't sound right and puts a damper in the flow. I liked the font type, it added to the mysteriousness of the poem, and the uniqueness. One thing I don't get, why are you telling the person to go away a million miles, but at the same time asking them to stay? Is this intentional, like you are undecided of your emotions towards this person? Or is it a mistake? Either way, it just bugs me a little bit. Make sure to read over your work a bit before you publish ;)

On the brighter side, this was excellent for a guy who doesn't do poetry. It was mysterious, dream-like, as I said above. The font suited it perfectly and it was a pleasure to read. Keep that flow constant, you did a good job of that here. And i think you should write more poetry, because in this there was definitely some good potential. :D

Keep writing.
Yours in ink,
TS.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sorry It didn't make sense. I am not a poet I was just expirimenting. I don't know what I was trying to write I just did so sorry about that.

No need to be sorry, great writing for a non-poet, well done.

And a nice attempt this was. Not bad at all. :)

I suggest two things: punctuation and stanza breaks. I know poetry defies all laws of grammar, but by the way your sentences are formed, I suggest you add punctuation in. It could just be me and my odd ways of poetry, but the punctuation might strengthen your lines and help the flow, since the breaks are evident, but the lack of punctuation doesn't show the breaks and so the flow is weird. To me, anyways.

I also suggest stanza breaks because isn't it obvious why? Stanzas help the pacing of the poem, give the reader a break to breathe and absorb what they've read, and just helps make the poem look pretty. Plus, you have spots in there where you can break off. So it's up to you, but I suggest stanzas. I like stanzas. :P

Overall, this was a nice poem, but it lacks imagery. Imagery is, after all, one of the strongest factors when it comes to poetry. Isn't there more you can tell us about the miles? I know it's a figurative example to describe the hardships the narrator is facing, but can you give us a bit more about them? Maybe why s/he's going through what s/he is, or what these hardships are?

Other than that, this was nicely done for a rookie poet! (don't worry, I'm one too) Your rhythm scheme, for the most part, was clear and cute and flowed easily due to the simple words. I enjoyed reading it and I think it's better than you think it is. :)

okay half of that I didn't understand (half the length of me and my rookieness) but thanks for the advice. I'm glad you like it I can't really do poetry (I am a novelist) Also this poem came to me in science and I just was drawing and then I started writing and came out with this poem. So sorry for the lack of imagery but personally I don't even know what this is supposed to be about... :)

I keep setting stanzas but they keep deleting themselves when I publish the work

I messed up on the spoiler...sorry about that :(

I don't think spoilers work in literary works.. *checks*

Nope! Just remove the spoiler tags, or add "Author's Note" before it, so we know the poem has ended and that this isn't part of the poem. :)

thanks i just did it
