To The Toxic Person Who Hurt Me

Warning: This work has been rated 16+ for language.

“You’re a thief. You stole my book and characters.” You told me.

How is that even possible if hadn’t read it and only heard about 10 words about it?

“Well, you still just don’t understand.” You told me.

I try to. Don’t you understand?

“You never listen.” You said.

I do…you’re the one who never listens…..

“You lied to me” You continue.

You lied about me and my family to everyone in your church.

“We need a break,” You said.

But why? We’re supposed to talk about this!

And you stopped talking to me for months.

You didn’t listen.

You didn’t understand. You’d never understand what I went through.

At Christmas, we talked and caught up.

“I’m not glad but relieved we didn’t talk,” You told me.

What the hell did you just say?

“I was able to do stuff and focus on myself” You explained.

Who said I was holding you back?

“I missed talking to you,” You told me "You're my only friend".

I want an apology. I asked you three times.

But I never got one and the abuse continued.

You kept me in your grasp and guilt tripped me if I wanted to leave.

You never understood.

You lied.

You stole.

You are not a friend.

I couldn't take it anymore.

I need a break.

I spent months in depression because of you.

I shut every person in my life out.

Because of you.

And you never said you were sorry. Not one damn time.

You have two hands like me but you never reached out.

Because it was my fault, you told me.

But it wasn’t.

You tricked me and abused me until I broke.

But you'll never know that I thank you.

Because you helped me find my real best friend.

And that is something you will never be.

I won't allow you to hurt me ever again.

I don't normally write poems and barely stories. But I couldn't make this a story and it's not necessarily a poem either. But it was better I tell my story in this short way.

This is for those who might have gone for something similar.

Notes: I thought she was my best friend. But in the end, I was treated like an object rather than a human. I now know what a real best friend. I know how to cope with depression even when it's really bad. I learned from that experience. That was the only thing my toxic ex-best friend ever did for me.

This poem/short story/whatever really speaks to those who've had a er4ible life. Whether it be bullying, stealing, or manipulation, we've all been there.

The story documents the author's real life experiences with someone they met who was ride to her. We don't know if it happened online or iin person, but it was definitely someone she didn't know. Online bullying is just as toxic, if not harmful, as real life bullying. Bullying is a big problem, and it happens even into college and young adulthood. What matters most is the fact that you're not aware of this person who hates you; otherwise, you might get the short end of the stick. It sucks to be around someone you don't know; they may snap back at you and ruin your life in the long run.

I like how the story is told in sentences lasting maybe six or seven words at most, but they're really effective. They help the story feel more natural and real, as if the author is really documenting her story and knows she's in trouble. She knows she isn't aware of her surroundings, and doesn't want this to happen again. Should this happen again, she has learned the hard way and wants to make things easier next time. Nevertheless, she wants to take chances and learn who she is in the end.

Overall, this poem does a real good job of portraying the negative effects of bullying, harassment, and threat and should give people a warning as to what they should avoid in the future. Stay away from those nasty people, kiddos! They might harm you and ruin and change your life for the worst. 5/5

Hey sky! I discovered this lovely poem of yours, and I decided to stop by and leave a review. I hope you're having a lovely day! Let's jump right into the review:

The first thing that I noticed was the unique style of this poem. It is very much like a conversation between you, and this person who really hurt you. From what I gather, it seems like this person accused you of stealing their book and character ideas.

You never understood.

You lied.

You stole.

You are not a friend.

I couldn't take it anymore.

I need a break.

I spent months in depression because of you.

I shut every person in my life out.

Because of you.

I can tell that this is very personal. I love how you give us both the internal and external thoughts, feelings, and things that were said. You really guide us through how you react to what this person has said to you, as well as how it feels to hear them say things. It sounds like you took a break from talking to them, but things still didn't get better. Also, I'm really sorry that you had to endure this, it sounds really difficult. I love the simplicity of your words. Because it feels like a diary entry or just direct thoughts, to be honest. I love this kind of poetry because it's so easy to read and follow along with. I really liked the ending and how dramatic you made it. You state how this person helped you find your first best friend and then you contrast it with how they will never be that person. I found this to be very dramatic, but also realistic. Overall, fantastic work on this poem I really enjoyed it.

Your friend,
Ellie

I am going through a similar situationship right now.
“'You never listen.' You said. 'I do…you’re the one who never listens…..'" This line makes me feel not alone. It really shows that there are two sides to every story and most people only ever hear the one. I especially love the line " You have to hands like me but you never reached out". This is especially creative and relatable. Ypou did an amazing job with this peice!

Hi! Sorry for such a late reply! I'm sorry to hear you're going through a similar situation. I hope by the time I'm replying to this, things have gotten better. If you ever wanna chat about what's going on feel free to PM me or put something up on my wall and we can talk about it <3

The hardest part of your life became that phase, when you burn love poems you once wrote for them. Then and again, your poetries are on them, but not in a good way.
nice work.

"I spent months in depression because of you.

I shut every person in my life out.

Because of you." the weight of this is gut wrenching. You conveyed the emotion incredibly well! Interestingly enough it almost follows a hero's journey structure with the darkest hour being at the end of the 2nd third. Thank you for sharing and giving a vessel for others to connect. ;p

Hi! Sorry for the wait! Again just as I told Raven, I%u2019m shocked! I%u2019ve never been good with words but I%u2019m so glad people can see the emotion I tried to display here! Thank you so much for reading and leaving such a great comment!

This story feels very powerful and I agree that it's great for anyone who's had a similar experience -or is currently going through it- to hear. And the story is written so well, every line is crystal clear and provokes emotion.

I especially loved this here:

You tricked me and abused me until I broke.

But you'll never know that I thank you.

Because you helped me find my real best friend.

Not only does it make me happy to know that you were able to find someone better, but it's just great to clarify that you can use a toxic situation to become stronger and find someone who will actually be your friend, instead of another fake. Very true and I hope more people learn this.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us <3

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! Thank you so much for your comment! I%u2019m honestly kinda shocked to hear someone liked it. I%u2019m not really good at talking about how I%u2019m feeling and it was hard for me to type it out. Your comment makes me so happy! Thank you for reading!
