The City That Rages In My Head

My mum wrote this and I thought it was really cute, Maybe us kids stress her out a little too much :D

It's a city of people running here, running there.
A city of people without a care
Fertile people multiplying
Families growing, planes and birds flying

Nobody's dying, theres no aging here
Wardrobes are buldging with new clothes to wear.
The streets become fuller, the beaches, the parks
The noise just grows louder, the dogs they all bark

Nobody slows down, no one has time
Overgrown gardens, too many grapes on the vine
All is heavy, busy and full
Not one single place, where theres peace, where its still

Day becomes night and night becomes day
Always something or someone in a rush, on their way.
Pushing and shoving, laughter or tears
All of it loud, all of it wears

The seagulls are schreeching, the thumber it claps
People rush to put on their waterproof hats
The rain it is falling, the wind it does blow
All of the people with nowhere to go

Running for shelter to hide from the rain
Without a second thought for my battered, stretched brain
They stomp and they stamp, they scream and they yell
I wish they would move away from this city of hell

I want the streets to myself, the beaches all bare
I want my parks back, the quiet to hear
I dont want any people in this city of mine
I can live with the quiet I'll manage just fine

I want them all to leave, each last one
Then I'll clean up the littler and put back the sun.
I'll enjoy my city, my city of peace
The shouting, the running, the laughter will cease

All will be still, silent and free
No one is here now, no one but me

this was good, it flowed, but I think that one or two lines were sort of long. Keep it up though, this is great.

Hi sis!
Yes I'd have to agree that the rhyming is good, but remember when mum first read it out - that was funny!

this poems is rather cute, and rhymes, which is a rarity.
it drifts a bit and certainly isn't award-worthy but i loved the meaning, the fluent-ness. and, well, actually - it is certainly a better quality than the constant stream of talent without effort.

“Such nonsense!" declared Dr Greysteel. "Whoever heard of cats doing anything useful!" "Except for staring at one in a supercilious manner," said Strange. "That has a sort of moral usefulness, I suppose, in making one feel uncomfortable and encouraging sober reflection upon one's imperfections.”
