Some day's
I wake up electric.
Every thought a spark,
every heartbeat a drumline,
every move I make feels like I’m made of gold and gasoline.
I talk too loud, laugh too hard,
dream like sleep’s a waste of time.
And for a minute
the world feels like it finally caught up to me.
Then…
it doesn’t.
Then it all slows down.
The air gets heavy.
Colors fade like they’re tired of trying.
And I’m left staring at my own reflection,
wondering how I can feel everything one moment
and nothing the next.
It’s like living in a body that can’t pick a temperature
burning, freezing, burning again.
I’m both the storm and the silence after it.
I’m the thunder and the echo.
I’m the apology and the cause.
People say “just breathe,”
but they don’t know what it’s like
to be gasping on your own thoughts.
They don’t know how it feels
to be your own roller coaster
no seatbelt, no stop button,
just hold on tight and hope you make it through the loop.
I’m tired of pretending it’s easy.
I’m tired of smiling when my chest is heavy
and my mind won’t stay still.
But I’m still here.
Still fighting.
Still showing up for the version of me
that believes there’s light after all this noise.
Because I am not broken
I am both.
I am the fire and the smoke,
the laughter and the ache.
I am chaos with a heartbeat,
and I’m learning—
that even when I’m too much
and not enough
in the same breath…
I’m still worth loving.

Hi! This is incredibly emotional. I'm almost lost for words. The final line 'I'm still worth loving' is really emotive. All the comparisons (storm and the silence, fire and the smoke, etc) are very moving. My favourite 2 lines are probably 'I'm tired of pretending it's easy' and 'I'm tired of smiling when my chest is heavy', as I feel like that is something a lot of people can relate to. I don't really have anything else to say, because I'm so impressed. This poem is spectacularly emotional, and you should be proud of it. Keep you your wonderful work!
Hello, this is my first review on here so my apologies if it isn't the best! I was very intrigued by this title and I'm very glad that I decided to click on it and read it. This poem really moved me, I felt parts of myself hidden in between the lines of this piece. As the poem progressed I felt like I related to it even more, so great job.
The only thing I noticed that I would change is that the first line says "Some day's" when I believe you meant to say "Some days" but other than that, everything is perfect!
I absolutely adore the lines
"People say “just breathe,”
but they don’t know what it’s like
to be gasping on your own thoughts.
They don’t know how it feels
to be your own roller coaster
no seatbelt, no stop button,
just hold on tight and hope you make it through the loop."
They really resonated with me, I relate to them a lot. This isn't really related but I feel like you would adore the song "this is me trying" by Taylor Swift.
I think the last line of the poem is genius. It adds a completely different feeling to the poem. It's saying that while everything else written is true, you're still worth loving despite all of that. I love that message dearly.
Overall, this poem is absolutely exquisite and I sincerely hope you keep writing more poetry like this! You truly have a gift, a way of expressing words that makes others like you feel seen. Keep it up!
Sincerely,
