Rock 'n' Roll High School

by Breezy

(First attempt at a sestina! Also, first work I've posted on YWS!
The capitalization is all done on purpose. Hope this is in the right forum...)

Rock and Roll High School

the time goes slowly. Tick, tock
clock. I don’t want to be in school.
I just want some Rock
and Roll. It’s been ten minutes. Tick, tock
clock. Music, soothe my savage soul.
I don’t wanna solve no math – I just want my Rock

And Roll. Yeah, I want Funk Rock, Punk Rock,
Old Junk, Blues. this work is dull. (Tick, tock, Tick, Tock.)
this boredom kills and fills my soul.
man, I don’t want to be in school!
fifteen minutes. (Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.)
I just wanna Rock

my world, all night and every day, Rock
my hips to Bass and Riffs. Rock
and Roll is here to stay. (Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.)
damn that clock! I’m chained to time. (Tick, tock,
Tick, tock). charting graphs and endless lines. school
is a drip. I sold my soul

for Rock and Roll. Love that Soul
and Gospel Rock.
but these days are all the same. get up and go to school.
who needs your numbers, numbered rules? Us Kids just want some Rock
or Blues. Music, be my daily Muse. (Tick, Tock).
All them sophists have no clue. (Tick – … Tick – Tock.)

I never learned jack shit in school. I just dream of Rock
all afternoon, I swoon to Bono or Keith Moon - for Rock
and Roll does free my soul.
and Power Chords do not, alone, make Hard Rock.
It's constant movement 'round the clock, the hands of fate – Tick tick tock, tick tock -

Tick – busted clock! You and I can’t close this school.
We know that. but every wasted minute takes its toll upon my soul. Tock,
Tick. Want to curl up in a corner with my head between my knees and rock
back and forth while I mourn my wasted dreams. O! My Soul!
Punk kids never get to heaven, ‘cuz Punk Rock
keeps 'em in detention, where he’ll watch that busted clock - Tick, Tock –

and I sit here, too. threw rocks
through the front window. getting a little out of control. Rock
is banned at catholic school. Just Me an’ the Punks and the clocks tick - … tick, tock.

Hey, Breezy, I'm Des.

I loved this!

I got this energetic feeling when I read it. My heart rate went up too!

The flow was great. And I think you added style to your piece by ignoring the rules of punctuation. Your choice of words also worked wonderfully. The feelings of impatience and anxiety were conveyed well.

Anyway this was new and refreshing to me.
And I loved it! Rock Rocks!
